Some numbers to go with Pollard's claim

Yes I would love to leave the Southron Big XII, and join any other big five conference because I am so tired of being "Screwed" by these Southron officials.

When I heard the name Cooper Castleberry I knew from prior experience that WE were gonna get Screwed sooner or later in this game........

There are a lot of reasons why tx a and m.....Colorado/ mizzou and Nebraska left these wonderful Southern Conference....I wish we could join them.....

In a few weeks, we might get screwed Sooner indeed...

I see how it could be considered that way, but I think if JP's comments have been heard and can carry momentum forward, it may help, as there may be more eyeballs watching more closely to see if what he was saying is legit.

I hope you're right but I don't think it's news to anybody that the bottom feeders in major conferences don't get the calls when they're playing the better teams. If JP's clip makes much news nationally I'm afraid we'll just be regarded as whiners, even though the complaints are legit imo. It might even be used against us in recruiting.

Yeah the refs are out to keep a downtrodden program like ISU down, lulz. Maybe we're 4-13 since the start of 2013 season because of coaching and recruiting but blame it on the refs, whatever deflects the blame

Is it really still too difficult for you to figure out?

Not one single person is saying that Iowa State has a losing record because of the refs making bad calls. NO ONE.

What IS being said is that there have been some horrendous calls that have been made against ISU that have had a negative impact on momentum at times and possibly the final outcome of a few games. Calls that were either completely made up or so wrong that everyone else except the refs knows that they are wrong(assuming the refs are incompetent and not corrupt).

On Saturday Iowa State was going head to head with OSU in the first half. The team made a mistake on a kickoff before halftime but the defense did what they had to do and stopped OSU from scoring. It was a tied game at 6 to 6. They had positive momentum and a reason to be excited going into the second half. Unfortunately, the replay official came along and reversed the call on the field and awarded OSU the touchdown. Being robbed again by the officials obviously ****** off the players. The second half was a completely different game from the first. This team may not have the ability to focus that anger and come out and light the world on fire. They got their minds messed with and couldn't recover. The point is they shouldn't have to always feel like they are fighting an uphill battle that is set up for them to fail.

Every game in football has questionable calls that get made and calls that get missed. No one is complaining about those types of calls. The complaints are centered around the made up / horrible calls that seem to get made when Iowa State has a chance to gain some positive momentum or have a possible impact that is favorable to the Cyclones. It's complete ******** and has to stop.

No one is saying that Iowa State would be a great team or have a winning record if it wasn't for the refs, but to say that the BS calls have not had a negative effect on the outcome of some games and the players attitudes and performance is being completely naive.

THIS. What makes things even worse is that many times it is on the replay reviewed calls that we get screwed on. When the call was initially in the other team's favor, there seems to never be enough evidence to overturn it (even when there is enough evidence). When it was initially in our favor, it seems there is always evidence to overturn the call (even when there isn't). That ******** has got to stop.

I was watching the game with my girlfriend's family and the tv was muted. They went to Mike Pereira, right? What did he say about the call?

He said he thought it was probably a touchdown but there wasn't any evidence to overturn the call on the field.

Also need to consider the times when the replay official doesn't push the button to pause play for a review.

Anyone know what the numbers were for penalties for Baylor 2-3 years before their rise to freakness? Or maybe KU before they went to the Orange Bowl and won?

Simply put, we MUST play better to put us in a position where our ability to overcome them isn't such a huge hurdle. Those teams have done it. Other teams have done it. Adversity, fair or not, can be overcome. Good teams do it.

I figure the PI calls disparity is just like a bad basketball team and foul disparity.
If you can't move your feet and you are not very good or young then you get taken advantage of.

Also attaching a link showing we are the 2nd least penalized team in the conference and top 25 nationally.

So what you're thinking is the refs give us passes on all the routine calls but will only whistle us when they know it is a crucial point in the game when momentum seems to be changing?

NEVER been able to accept a conspiracy against ISU.

If you actually look into those numbers it helps the conspiracy theorists against Iowa State.

Iowa State does a great job of not having penalties (top 25 in the country), yet they are almost dead last in yards per penalty. In relation, Iowa State opponents are almost the best in the country when it comes to yards per penalty.

Don't take this post as me saying I'm a conspiracy theorist! I'm just pointing out the numbers.

Iowa State has drawn 4 pass interference calls in the last year and half of Big 12 play vs. 18 being called on them. Last year the ratio was 1 to 13.

Reviews are a little different matter as not every school's play by play recap tracks reviews. ISU does for home games, but for the info we have in the last year and half ISU has won 1 review and lost 14. This doesn't include the @ Tech and @ KSU games last year that may or may not have had reviews. The review ISU won was a call upheld - Jansen Watson's INT in the 2nd quarter vs. Kansas. From the games that track the info, ISU has not had a call overturned in their favor for the last year and half of conference games.

In fairness to the refs here, ISU need to do a much better job of coaching our defensive backs on how to defend against the pass. It is an easy call when the defender never turn around to face the thrown ball.

I don't believe face guarding is a penalty in college ball, only the pros.

It's starting to not become a conspiracy.....just a fact

Let's not forget the kicker being off-sides on the on-side kick at Baylor.

It's also not so much the disparity in penalties as much as when they happen to go against Iowa State. Crucial situations, looks like the ISU defense has made a stand, and BAM! Out comes the flag leading to a touchdown for the opponent. ISU is driving for a score and BAM! Out comes the flag forcing ISU into a long FG opportunity or into a punting situation.

Then you get the real gems like the pass interference call against Iowa where the flag was picked up. Instead of a drive extending penalty ISU is forced to kick a FG instead. Clearly the wrong decision was made to pick up the flag and wave off the call. On a side note... I have never seen the officials throw a flag, the umpire signal the penalty, the umpire then announces the penalty to the crowd, and then all of a sudden they pick it up as if nothing ever happened. Craziest thing I've ever seen.

Obviously, the B12 refs working that game were cheating for Iowa.
