There is a Chris Clarke update at NY2LA that is premium but it mentions 2 visits and setting up 2 more. I can't read it but the visit info will be public very soon I'd think. Hope we get one.

Not Iowa State, but very interesting and recruiting related.

SG Antonio Blakeney, Orlando, FL (#14 recruit in 2015) has decommitted from Louisville... Reportedly because of pressure from Nike. Blakeney played for Nike AAU team. Louisville just resigned a mega-deal w/Adidas. Word is this is Nike's reaction to losing Andrew Wiggins.

Wiggins played Nike AAU and then at Kansas was Adidas. He signed a deal with Adidas in the NBA. I was told this was a concern for Bill Self. He was worried that if Wiggins signed with Adidas, Nike would try to blackball all Adidas schools with their AAU players.

Blakeney has scheduled 4 visits... Kentucky, LSU, Oregon, and Missouri. All 4 schools are Nike schools.

If that's all true, jeez what a bunch of BS for a company to be directly influencing where people go to college. Just ridiculous.

Part of the reason Wiggins went to Kansas was because Adidas told him they were going to offer him a huge deal after college if he went to an Adidas school. So KU/Adidas aren't angels here. It's been known since he signed with KU that he was going to sign with Adidas.

Can everyone just stop with this dumb stuff about the shoe companies? It is so old and lame. These kids aren't making decisions based on pressure from a shoe company. And the stuff about Self and Wiggins and Nike and Adidas is tin-foil-hat ridiculous. These kids play on various AAU teams, sponsored by vairous people/school alumni/shoe companies etc... and go to schools that have contracts with whatever shoe companies they are with and then sign with random shoe companies and cross over between shoe brands ALL THE TIME. Whatever nutbag that hatched this dumb conspiracy was probably just a jilted Louisville fan that didn't like that the kid more likely got overexcited about a hot girl on his visit to Louisville and committed before he realized that he might still want to keep his options open.

I would LOVE to see a source that isn't a message board for all of this ridiculousness. These same "people" also said that Wiggins would never go to Kansas because he was at a Nike AAU program. People are making up dumb stories and crafting around these events and claiming that they are the true reason why they happened and they are all BS.

I hope this is true. If it's the other, it would be so sad and ridiculous!

Considering that the vast majority of major ncaa basketball programs are Nike schools, this isn't a telling fact. Baylor, Louisville, Kansas, Indiana, Michigan, Cincinnati, Notre Dame, NC State, Wisconsin and UCLA are pretty much the only Adidas schools of note. But again, feel free to add "facts" to the conspiracy...

One of the first headlines after the whole OMG Wiggins to KU was "Adidas to offer Wiggins a record deal" granted that never came to happen because Wiggins doesn't really have the superstar personality/game, but it was out there. I'm not going to look because I honestly don't care all that much.

Yeah, it's really hard to believe a huge company like Nike would want the top athletes for themselves. I think someone needs to take off their rainbow blinders, stuff like this is normal this day and age.

Notable basketball players currently signed with Adidas that went to Nike schools: Joakim Noah (Florida), John Wall (Kentucky), Derrick Rose (Memphis), David West (Xavier), Harrison Barnes (Carolina), Kenneth Faried (Morehead State), Tim Duncan (Wake Forest) just to name a few. The list goes on and on and on...

In other words it was a big fat internet rumor. Wouldn't the fact that the rumor (10 years $180 million) and the real deal (about $2 million a year) were so monumentally far apart make you at least think that you might have been duped?

What a revelation. I do get a chuckle out of the idea that Oregon is one of the schools he's now visiting if in fact it was Nike that pushed him away from Louisville.
Yeah, it can't be the fact that Oregon has about five scholly players right now and are desperate for players and could offer loads of playing time...

Memphis was adidas when Rose was there, John Wall is the only surprising one there. And that was probably done with the Wall/Rose/Cal connection.

It's all a dirty game. They try to take any advantage they can. Obviously at the end of the day it's the players decision, but you really don't think they try influencing them in any way?
