Did you read the part where I clearly stated "out of the idea".
Honestly, I don't give two ***** if any of it is true or not. Recruiting is a dirty business, always has been and always will be. If anything I could see you wanting to refute that idea as much as anything to ease your own worries being that Kansas is a lowly Adidas school. While Adidas is a massive company, they would never stand a chance against Nike in this country.

The point being that MONEY and CRED talk a million times more than what stupid school you go to. Kids don't think you have to go to a Nike school to sign with Nike. they think you have to be a good NBA to sign with Nike. As of Aug 2013, Nike had 196 NBA players signed; Adidas was 2nd with 66; Jordan Brand (basically Nike) had 15. John Wall origianlly signed with REEBOK until Adidas offered more money. When Nike offers him more than that, he'll probably go there and then people will say "I knew he'd sign with Nike; he went to a Nike school."
There has been a sleazy underbelly to recruiting since guys played in canvas Chuck Taylors. To think a guy makes a decision on a college with the shoe company being the driver of the decision is just lazy.
Does it factor in somewhere? For some kids, yes. But they aren't picking a school because they are a Nike school .Quite frankly, going to a Nike school vs. an Adidas school guarantees these kids exactly NOTHING except that they'll wear Nike gear while they are at school. Nike tries to sign all NBA players; they don't care where they went to school.
It must get exhausting to constantly feel like you have to defend your teams honor, especially considering you're not convincing anyone.
As much as I hate to admit this, Tuco has a point. Yes, I'm sure with the superstars the shoe contract is an added bonus on trying to lure them to a specific school when the likes of Arizona, Kansas, Duke, Syracuse, UNC, Michigan St. Arizona, Florida, etc. are all on the same guy and if there is some sort of way they can, it may happen. Recruiting is dirty, people are naive if they don't believe that. Every kid is different on why he wants to go to a certain school. Whether it be coach/system, history, playing time, girls, money, location, cost; it can be mentioned. But, to also say that it doesn't happen, mmm....then you my friend probably have lived a sheltered life. It's why programs get in trouble all the time. It's not the main factor, but it should at least be on the table.
