Yeah, it can't be the fact that Oregon has about five scholly players right now and are desperate for players and could offer loads of playing time...
The point being that MONEY and CRED talk a million times more than what stupid school you go to. Kids don't think you have to go to a Nike school to sign with Nike. they think you have to be a good NBA to sign with Nike. As of Aug 2013, Nike had 196 NBA players signed; Adidas was 2nd with 66; Jordan Brand (basically Nike) had 15. John Wall origianlly signed with REEBOK until Adidas offered more money. When Nike offers him more than that, he'll probably go there and then people will say "I knew he'd sign with Nike; he went to a Nike school."Memphis was adidas when Rose was there, John Wall is the only surprising one there. And that was probably done with the Wall/Rose/Cal connection.
There has been a sleazy underbelly to recruiting since guys played in canvas Chuck Taylors. To think a guy makes a decision on a college with the shoe company being the driver of the decision is just lazy. All of this shoe stuff is made up? Interesting, even though I've heard about it for years and we know there is a sleazy underbelly to recruiting. twocoach doth protest too much.

Does it factor in somewhere? For some kids, yes. But they aren't picking a school because they are a Nike school .Quite frankly, going to a Nike school vs. an Adidas school guarantees these kids exactly NOTHING except that they'll wear Nike gear while they are at school. Nike tries to sign all NBA players; they don't care where they went to school. And I thought I was naive.
Nah, I just have a few quiet moments at work for a change. All of this shoe stuff is made up? Interesting, even though I've heard about it for years and we know there is a sleazy underbelly to recruiting. twocoach doth protest too much.
Not Iowa State, but very interesting and recruiting related.

SG Antonio Blakeney, Orlando, FL (#14 recruit in 2015) has decommitted from Louisville... Reportedly because of pressure from Nike. Blakeney played for Nike AAU team. Louisville just resigned a mega-deal w/Adidas. Word is this is Nike's reaction to losing Andrew Wiggins.
Wiggins played Nike AAU and then at Kansas was Adidas. He signed a deal with Adidas in the NBA. I was told this was a concern for Bill Self. He was worried that if Wiggins signed with Adidas, Nike would try to blackball all Adidas schools with their AAU players.
Blakeney has scheduled 4 visits... Kentucky, LSU, Oregon, and Missouri. All 4 schools are Nike schools.
Nah, I just have a few quiet moments at work for a change.
What does this have to do with what team I cheer for?It must get exhausting to constantly feel like you have to defend your teams honor, especially considering you're not convincing anyone.

That's not what this thread is for. Stay on topic.Fred visited Guy, by the way. Brought him some shoes.

Well then it must be because he likes Nike shoes..."Per sources, Louisville has cut all ties with Antonio Blakeney. The Cardinals are no longer recruiting the former commitment." And it isn't because he lost his talent in the last week, tuco.
If only it were that simple.Well then it must be because he likes Nike shoes...
