Preseason Top 25

You're a ******* ****** if you think Iowa should be in the top 25 preseason poll.
Such a well thought out argument against. Imagine that, I am the only one one this whole thread who is a bleepity bleep for some team they put in their rankings. I am SHOCKED! Let's guess whether the Preseason AP Poll has them closer to my prediction of #24 or your prediction of #68...

Speaking of well thought out arguments, why don't you provide one for putting Iowa in the top 25. Do you even know anything about that team? Who they lose/gain. Who their coach is? Or were you just being a typical tuco-bag.

Without using google, I'd like to hear your thoughts on Iowa being in the top 25.

Iowa doesn't deserve to be in the top 25 but I could definitely see them possibly getting in. I would put them mid to high 30's but others seem to think they are much better than they are.

Why, because it's absurd that they might sneak into the tail end of the rankings? I get the ISU/Iowa rivalry but be realistic. They will get votes in the preseason polls, maybe enough to get them into the Top 25. It would be trolling if I put them 12th and put ISU at 22. Just blindly calling me a troll is old and played out and boring.

Yep, it's absurd.

Not to get in between you two, but Iowa finished 9-9 in conference last year. Ended the season on a 4 game losing streak (lost 7 of their last 8). And lost their best player in Marble.

They may get a few votes from some folks who aren't paying attention at the beginning of the season, but no way will they be ranked.

The hype in Iowa City was at an all time high going into last season and they still weren't a preseason top 25 team. 0% chance they are this year so yes you're either trolling or you don't understand college basketball

Taking you a while tuco, I said no google.
Sorry, I actually do have a LITTLE work I need to get done today... Why? because EVERYONE in consideration that low in the rankings is probably losing a very good player and finished right around mediocre last year. Aaron White is a pretty solid player and performed well in the camps he did this year and the rest of the "typical" teams to rank are down a bit. The bottom of the rankings isn't exactly a who's who of Final Four bound teams, folks. You could probably take the bottom five of any list and replace them with five different teams and be pretty close.

Iowa didn't receive a single vote in the final poll, lost their best player and brought in one of the worst recruiting classes in the B1G...a third team all conference player that is limited on offense isn't getting them into the top 25.

Meh... We'll see. Pointless to argue about it.

As much as I dislike Iowa, having them ranked in the preseason top 25 doesn't surprise me. In fact I kind of hope they are. Helps our SOS and is always fun watching their ship sink.

They have already been listed in at least two rankings already...

The first one is Eamonn Brennan who is an Iowa native and Hawkeye fan. The second one is really bad, I know it was done in April but that's terrible

Hey, everyone. I'm a huge college basketball fan and it's been such a long, boring offseason for us diehard fans. I had a little bit of time to do some research and decided to do my own preseason Top 25. For any of you that are in the same boat as me and love college ball, I encourage you to post your Top 25. Anyways, here's mine:

1 Duke
2 Kentucky
3 Arizona
4 Florida
5 Wisconsin
6 IOWA STATE!!!
7 Kansas
8 Louisville
9 San Diego State (it may be a bit of a stretch here)
10 North Carolina
11 Connecticut
12 Texas
13 Virginia
14 Wichita State (they're extremely overrated, some preseason polls have them top 10)
15 Ohio State
16 Michigan State (big drop off from last year)
17 Virginia Commonwealth
18 Villanova
19 Oklahoma
20 Gonzaga
21 Dayton (before you call me dumb, they return 3 starters from last years team that didn't hit their stride until late February and it showed in the tourney)
22 Stanford
23 Kansas State
24 Michigan
25 SMU

I would've put SMU in the top 15, but after losing Mudiay to China, that really hurt them. Larry Brown still has a very excellent team.

Ranking ISU #6 may be a bit of a stretch, but even though I'm a total homer, this team does have a ton of talent and is capable of being a Top 10 team, IMO.

Please include your rankings as well to help pass the time between now and November.

Note that this poll does not mean that I think Duke will necessarily win the 'ship. It all depends on matchups and Duke has a pretty big tendency to come up short (see last year).

1 Duke
2 Kentucky
3 Arizona
4 Texas
5 Wisconsin
6 Kansas
7 Florida
8 Virginia
9 Louisville
10 North Carolina

15 Ohio State
16 Michigan State
17 Dayton

Iowa having a good ranking in November does nothing for us.

I really want to see #1 iowa state sometime. Think its going to happen here in the near future

If ISU starts out 20-0, which is possible, they will be #1. One list already has them as the second to last team that loses a game, but 20-0 I think puts them into February.

You have UConn in there twice. Connecticut and UConn aren't different schools.

Stanford and K-State are getting some run on sites and I considered both of them. I don't know the first thing about what Washington has going for next year. Pac 12 will be interesting. I've seen UCLA and Utah get mentioned in the 20-25 range. Oregon is certainly....interesting this year and Colorado will be competitive. If Washington is back to being decent they'll have an OK conference again.
