Hubby is currently making a quilt. He wanted to use cardinal & gold, and has 8 fabrics of each (4 dark, 4 light) plus two cyclone fabrics, one in camo & one that has boxes with ISU signage (Cy & I-State) in them. He chose a rather pretty design for the quilt. Only problem is that the quilt pattern was designed for a much smaller variety of fabrics. There's been a lot of ripping & cussing going on in our house lately. ;)

Your husband may never forgive you for sharing this with us.

Hubby is an absolutely amazing Renaissance man. He bakes cakes from scratch, sewed the satin bridesmaids dresses for our wedding, has rebuilt several cars and used to race stock cars, built a 30x40 two-story outbuilding almost entirely by himself (the cement & pillars were poured by a pro, and he had some help setting the walls and roof trusses, but did the wiring, siding, roof, doors & windows himself), and makes wooden toys from scratch for the grandkids, and has time to visit his mom weekly & do all of her heavy chores for her. This is his second quilt that I know of - the first was for our panther son...complete with a stitched panther on it.

He won't be in the slightest bit embarrassed...his mancard is quite secure. And all y'all should just WISH you had half of his talents! :)

That sounds Fab-u-lous!!!!!!!!!!

Full story: He just volunteered to get in on the 'private fittings' with all the bridesmaids. Funny how it took the bridesmaids waaay more fittings than your dress did, eh?

Got to give it to him, though, that's pretty dedicated to learn to sew just to get a little strange before the wedding.

That would be really creepy...his daughters were our bridesmaids...

Put it this way...when we got married, we each had a sewing machine. We sold mine because it got very little use, kept his because he liked it better. I HATE to sew. I do needlepoint, but I can't sew a straight seam to save my soul...

Back in 1902, KCclone and hubby had to sew their own clothes and walk 5 miles both way in the snow just to get to the ole schoolhouse.

Been there, do that. I pulled an old email from our Washington headquarters giving us some clarification and direction on something we asked about a long time ago. Another project manager had a similar situation and I pulled out the old email from HQ that was sent to our lawyer and me. I said don't ask, we have the guidance. Question everyone had was where I got the 2000 email. My Outlook pst archive file is ginormous and goes back to 1998.

My bean counters send out an email and then it's policy. But that magic email is not put into a policy document or saved anywhere special. It's up to everyone to save it. And then older versions pop up and no one knows what the current policy is at this moment in time. It makes me so mad that I see sparkles. If something is a policy or directive shouldn't it be in a specific place where everyone has immediate access to it?

Bugs...need I remind you that you work for the government? Local, state, fed...they're ALL bureaucracies. If they put it in one place, that would border on practical. :)

Well if it were my place of employment, it would be on the company portal (our intranet) - along with every other company document written since the dawn of the internet.

"Hey Bob, do you know where I can find the policy for _______?"

"Yeah, it's on the portal."

Thanks Bob.

left half a granola bar at my desk from last week. It's kinda chewy now instead of crunchy. I can deal.

(I had it in a baggy, no ants here!)
