I just got done watching a movie about Salem Witch Trials called The Crucible in English class. Damn the people there were so stupid. If something bad happened to you and someone else was around the other person was automatically a witch.

There's a theory that they were affected by mold on their rye, causing Ergot poisoning.

Long link:

http://customers.hbci.com/~wenonah/history/ergot.htm

End summary:

Ergot thrives in warm, damp, rainy springs and summers. When Caporael examined the diaries of Salem residents, she found that those exact conditions had been present in 1691. Nearly all of the accusers lived in the western section of Salem village, a region of swampy meadows that would have been prime breeding ground for the fungus. At that time, rye was the staple grain of Salem. The rye crop consumed in the winter of 1691-1692 — when the first usual symptoms began to be reported — could easily have been contaminated by large quantities of ergot. The summer of 1692, however, was dry, which could explain the abrupt end of the 'bewitchments.' These and other clues built up into a circumstantial case against ergot that Caporael found impossible to ignore.

This is more of a random rant: So yesterday I got flipped off from a semi-driver. I love their sense of entitlement with the road. I was passing him and as I was side-by-side with the trailer (had a trailer myself), he proceeds to veer into my lane with a turn signal on, forcing me to go off the road a little bit. As I passed him he flips me the bird and gets all ****** off and gets on his radio. He then passes me going 80. I just couldn't believe he expected me to slow down and let him in as I was already next to him.

This has happened to me a number of times. End result, I despise semi's.

Although it does sound based on your point of view that the truck driver was in the wrong in this situation, you would have a much different general opinion if you were to ever a drive one.

This has always made me wonder:

What if the colors we all see aren't the same? I know the color green because ever since I was little I was told that color was green. What if when you look at something I would call green, you actually see my red, but to you, it's green?

My father is red-green colorblind; the father of my boys was red-green colorblind; my younger son is red-green colorblind (although that's his grandfather's fault, not his father's fault). However, because of my ex's dominant colorblind gene and my being a carrier through my father, if we had had daughters, they would have had a 50/50 chance of being colorblind. Fairly rare to have a colorblind girl.

Simply put, after living with colorblind people all my life, I can guarantee you they don't see their surroundings the way people with normal color-vision do. :)

Hubby makes fun of me for this one, but my family raised beef cattle...specifically Herefords.

The Chik-fil-A commercials bug the heck out of me because the cows that are encouraging you to eat more chicken (and presumably less beef) are Holsteins...a DAIRY breed.

Yes...they just had one on the tv...

someone in my gym class had his locker broken into, but nothing was stolen, instead the breaking in guy wore the gym clothes and then put them back in the guys locker.

They don't get milk out of the steers. I was once told by a dairy farmer that most of Mcdonalds beef is Holstein.

MRI's have to be one of the hardest things to do. If you can sit completely still through the entirety of the scan you deserve a medal.

Had one done a month or so ago and I fell asleep in it. Exception and not the norm, I know.

Hamburger's about all it's good for. Look at the ribs, hips, shoulders of a beef breed vs a dairy breed & tell me you aren't going to get more steaks & roasts off the Hereford or Angus than you will off the Holsetin or Guernsey or Jersey.
Nothing against dairy (talking to you, cowgirl!) but they aren't exactly bred for muscle mass & marbling.

:)

That's why I believed the dairy farmer. Low quality beef? Sell it to Mcdonalds.
