Iowa Falls

Rock n Row I think is the tubing place in Eldora. They drive you to Steam Boat Rock. If you go during the holidays and its nice out, you will see boobs. Take plenty of alcohol. I've never done the Rock n Row, but I have kayaked and tubed. Up by Steam Boat also has some good fishing. There is plenty of Walleyes on the Iowa River.

I've never done much in Iowa Falls. I think there is a bar or restaurant that overlooks the river.
Camp David is the place to which you are referring. Unfortunately it is no longer in business. Too bad, 'cuz the wife and I really enjoyed the food & atmosphere. The Princess Cafe downtown has good pizza and good burgers. I like Gyros, but wasn't overly impressed with them. Otherwise, most of the menu items are pretty good.

The neighboring town of Ackley boasts an annual Sauerkraut Days festival every summer right around the first weekend in June...free dogs and kraut on Friday night!

Riverbend Rally during the 4th of July is really good. My mom lives in IF & my family treks up there every 4th. For a smaller town, the fireworks are pretty good. If you like waterskiing/boating, you might want to check into that. Most of my cousins live there and I used to do a lot of waterskiing/boating with them.
If you like to golf, that is another option.

Well, there we go...what to do in Iowa Falls? Kentkel's mom....I think, is the correct answer.

A shout out to Sauerkraut Days, now I have seen it all on this site. Made it to a few of those back in my day.

My inlaws are from Iowa Falls. Hit up the coffee shop downtown, fish or boat on the river, the church sponsored thrift store is open Fri and Sat. Riverbend Rally is fun. Bowling Alley, bars, Ellsworth College if you want a gym, Rugby matches, movie theater. Go to Pine Lake, there is a tubing company around Eldora that you can do some drunk river tubing. It's a town of 5,000 or so people, so it isn't super exciting. As far as nightlife, go to Ames or DSM for the weekend.

Trivia Question! Does anyone know what the Coffee shop he is referencing used to be?

Starting my internship in Iowa Falls next week. Any advice on what to do in my "free" time? Any places I should see?

TIA

You will fall in love with Iowa Falls. One of the most beautiful river towns in the country.

Over June there will be a different town celebration every weekend in one of the towns close by. My buddies and I kayak the Iowa river into Steamboat Rock and and night hit up the neighboring towns.
The aforementioned Sauerkraut days holds a special place in my heart. I worked for a radio station in Hampton that was sponsoring a kraut eating contest and the goal was to beat me (when I was in college, was 300+ pounds playing Oline) No one came close. Pound of kraut and 2 brats in 64 seconds

Wallen-McAdams, I really liked the dad and the son was a jerk. You're not the son are you...?

Hahaha no my dad is. I'll let him know you thought he was a jerk however!

Your grandpa is one of the nicest men alive! I just ran into him a couple of weeks ago. Enjoy him for as long as you can. I never knew how much I'd miss my grandparents until I lost them.

FWIW, your dad's a nice guy, too. :)

Ha he wasn't so bad, but compared to your grandpa he was, your grandpa set a very high bar. I used to go there for cub/boy scout shirts and always hoped the dad (your grandpa) was working. This is going back 20+ years.

There is a great cycling community in town. Ride to Alden and back every Tuesday. Meet at 503 bar at 6-6:30pm ride to west side bar to eat/drink and back. Peaks at 50-60 riders by late July which isn't bad at all for a town of 5000. Spoken Wheel bike shop is a treasure and is nicer than many big city bike stores...definitely check it out. Lots of kayakers in town too.
