Starting my internship in Iowa Falls next week. Any advice on what to do in my "free" time? Any places I should see?

TIA

The river goes right through town so that might be something to do. They also have Pizza Ranch, so cactus bread.:spinny:

Only places I have been are events with my kids at the high school and Pizza Ranch. The downtown seems kind of quaint. The high school has a lot of info on a former athlete, thinking Nick Collison maybe? And it isn't a far drive to Ames in any event.

Welp good luck. Iowa Falls is a hell of a town. If you are not 21 I am guessing spanking your pud will take up most of your time.

Not much going on in IF. Thankfully you're close to places like Alden, Popejoy and Hubbard. Have a great summer!

Riverbend Rally during the 4th of July is really good. My mom lives in IF & my family treks up there every 4th. For a smaller town, the fireworks are pretty good. If you like waterskiing/boating, you might want to check into that. Most of my cousins live there and I used to do a lot of waterskiing/boating with them.
If you like to golf, that is another option.

later in the summer there's an extremely good smallmouth fishing in between there and Alden

My inlaws are from Iowa Falls. Hit up the coffee shop downtown, fish or boat on the river, the church sponsored thrift store is open Fri and Sat. Riverbend Rally is fun. Bowling Alley, bars, Ellsworth College if you want a gym, Rugby matches, movie theater. Go to Pine Lake, there is a tubing company around Eldora that you can do some drunk river tubing. It's a town of 5,000 or so people, so it isn't super exciting. As far as nightlife, go to Ames or DSM for the weekend.

Steamboat Rock fishing, or Eagle City Winery are around there....I travel over there for work a lot, your about an hour from Ames or Cedar Falls. Befriend a panther chick for the summer..............I don't know good luck, one guy I work with has a new girl friend every 3 weeks says he finds them online, of course it is a new disease with each one.

Iowa Falls is pretty boring apart from the river but it has a small community college that brings in more money and jobs than most towns in the same kind of position. Not the worst place you could wind up.

Highway 20 is pretty cool. You can see travelers head east and west. Who knows where they're going, unless you follow them. Don't do that, just stay inside and speak to no one!

Rock n Row I think is the tubing place in Eldora. They drive you to Steam Boat Rock. If you go during the holidays and its nice out, you will see boobs. Take plenty of alcohol. I've never done the Rock n Row, but I have kayaked and tubed. Up by Steam Boat also has some good fishing. There is plenty of Walleyes on the Iowa River.

I've never done much in Iowa Falls. I think there is a bar or restaurant that overlooks the river.
