For the most part I agree with everything you say. BUT.... JP has not handled previous cases at ISU this way at all. There are guys on the current football team that were actually found guilty of crimes, and they are still welcomed by JP to play.

I can't believe how so many people can't figure out the issue here.

I can't believe you can't figure out that JP does not make decisions as to who is suspended and who isn't, and that is done by a committee.

You can't seem to grasp that the university has a student code of conduct. There would be no need for it if all it said was to follow our legal system. For example, cheating is a big deal with the code of conduct but may not be illegal. Incidents involving other students are a bigger deal with the code of conduct. Incidents that are sexual in nature are a bigger deal to the code of conduct. It doesn't map perfectly to whether or not you committed a crime.

This is a lot like Pierce, and ten years later that incident still drives administrative reasoning in cases like this.

-Player is charged with sex assault

-Victim is not cooperative and provides inconsistent testimony

-Sex charges are dropped

-Much dissent within the University of what to do about it despite the lack of criminal charges.

The handling of high profile sex cases at Iowa and UNI are most certainly contributing to the decision making process here.

Fred could kick him off tomorrow for no reason. But if you have the court's as part of your grievance process the court's will decide. The supreme court didn't even review whether they had a "right of review". Pollard rhetoric on this did not match any actual legal question. They alleged that the stay would prevent this punishment because of timing and therefore could prevent a university from dicipling. However nobody outside of Pollard has argued that the court's role is appropriate in this case. It baffles me that folks keep repeating this (and by folks I mean the media).

However, the actions of Iowa State since Friday are odd and disturbing. Bubu followed the appeal process that was his right and he has won (so far). That doesn't mean Iowa State was wrong in suspending him, but that does mean that Iowa State now has to pay the price. Just like Bubu had to when Leath made his decision. That's life.

I hope no one boos anyone because it seems as though Iowa State has finally shut up about things and the last thing we need is Pollard or Leath making some stupid *** statement again (EVEN if they are right).

I agree. I think it is important that Iowa State acts fairly. I questioned the actions of Leath at the time of suspension for the same reason the DC did. There just seem to be major logical falacies. His comments today shed more light on that logic which makes me feel like he at least had rationale (even though I disagree with that rationale).

I actually thought Leath's comments today were good. Pollard tweeting a misleading register headline (implying Leath said Palo had no Honor opposed to a hypothetical about future recruits) was absolutely out of line however.

I've never used one of those "tweet this article" buttons before, which, with the "via @dmregister" tacked on the end of the tweet, is what I assume Pollard used. Would he have even noticed the wording of the tweet (headline) before hitting submit? Looks like he did the same thing with a second article.

He plead guilty to assault causing injury in a sexual assault.

Again, nothing similar to Bubu.
