Pollard On Student Section

I went with my family to the game on Saturday. Since it was the only game this year where we could all attend, we shelled out some pretty big bucks to get tickets, and our seats weren't even all together. I was disappointed and angry when I looked at the upper student section and saw it was maybe a third full.

As others have said, sell your tickets if you can't be at the game. With all of the online options to dispose of a ticket, there is absolutely no excuse for just letting it go to waste if you know you won't be there.

You guys should have moved over there & sat together.

Why is this forum still going? I'm pretty sure every possible logical opinion was stated in the first couple pages, if not the first page alone.

Kids just need something to ***** about. God forbid we don't hold their hands the rest of their lives. Boo freaking hoo.
They had alternating seats between balcony and lower level back in the late 90s, so I don't want to hear it.

My brother paid for student tickets and waited for 4 hours at the Iowa game in freezing temps and didn't get a seat. Now he just uses my parents extra season ticket because it's too difficult. Way to go Pollard this is a great way to make sure we don't have Hilton full for good games because everyone expects to not get in. Raise the prices if it's about money and also make it so you cannot buy a COMBO ticket as a student - these are the kids that want football tickets and end up paying more for the combo ticket just in case they want to go to a big game.

I think "you're brother" is the one with a problem. If he had that much drive to wait 4 hours for the Iowa game then I would think he's intelligent enough to know that the other games won't require nearly that much standing outside.

I completely agree that the combo tickets should be done away with, they've always been a problem.

Fail.

What has Pollard done that is so great besides convincing people to shell out more money and buy more tickets for a below average football team? He ran Cael off and the wrestling went down the crapper. He hired the worst bball coach Iowa state has had for 30 years and gave him a ridiculously bad contract. Fred saved his butt in basketball.
He was set to give Chizik another contract even though he was horrible.
That's not even counting the stupid crap he says.

So what are the good things he has done? He is vastly overrated by some on here.

I'm not sure I'd go that far-it is a tough job to be AD at Iowa State and in the Big 12 with Texas the boss. I do feel like he comes across very poorly at times. The "New Years Day Bowl" tweet, statement regarding Bubu (Athletic department will decide status), jabbing the students, getting kicked out of a high school basketball game, etc. Some of this stuff is just below what his office should stand for.
