Ejim Technical

I thought the T was weak but this team really needs to keep its composure and cool.

Ejim and Thomas did a great job not losing their cool when the calls basically had no basis in reality (but Thomas is probably smart enough to know any call on him is better than one of our bigs). Kane is a bit of a ticking time bomb though, we got lucky that didn't escalate even though the KSU player shoved him a bit first. In most games I'm guessing the other team would gladly trade Kane for whoever is getting into it with him.

I keep thinking he's going to get a T after a call against him, he seems to be getting more and more animated after calls as the season goes on.

I didn't read the entire thread so excuse me if this has already been hit on but this call demonstrated everything that is wrong with how NCAA BB has decided to use official reviews. Judgement calls should not be subject to replay. I might have been fine with the officials making a call and then using review to verify it. But to not make a call initially, not have to explain what they are reviewing, and then just basically finding random **** to justify their ineptness is crazy.

And everything looks more dramatic in slow motion. If their wasn't enough there to call it in real time then just let it go. Use replay the way every other college and pro league uses it for.

Anyone saying Ejim and Hogue need to cool it can shut up. I would much rather have players that will not take the other teams bull ****. I loved it when Homan did it and I love that these two do it.

I agree. I love especially how Hogue plays. Ejim sometimes gets a little chippy after a play is over. Hogue hardly ever does that. But Hogue will do whatever he has to in order to get a loose ball.

They said it was because he extended his arm and hit him in the face. Mel has a temper and I'm about sick of it. I love his fire by he does **** like this every game. That and his little arm push off every game. He and Hogue need to check their tempers because it could cost us down the road.

I could not disagree more. Ejim is gritty but rarely ever hurts his team with stupid stuff. The technical in the KSU game was BS, the hanging on the rim technical was BS. You could see he was calm as soon as the 2 KSU players got their full weight off of him and stopped raking his face. He was the least of my concerns on that play. Mel is animated but in no way a dirty or stupid player. If Ejim or Hogue turn their dials down even one notch it will be one notch too far. Every team in America wishes they had a Melvin Ejim or Dustin Hogue battling on the inside.

I don't mind the tough play. There is a difference is standing up for yourself and just losing it and doing something stupid.

The video certainly didn't show any conclusive intentional elbow. It's not dead ball 3 pointer bad, but it was up there in the top 10 or so bad calls against ISU I've seen in the past 20 years. Given that they took their time and reviewed it to come up with such nonsense it's probably the least understandable blown call I've ever seen.

At least the dead ball 3 you could argue they were just stupid and in love with KU and forgot to do their job for about 30 seconds. This was taking five minutes of analysis to come up with something completely stupid and irrational.

Agreed. It seemed like they (refs) felt obligated to call more than a simple foul since it took them so long to review it.

Didn't they go to the replay on this though? How do you misapply it after going to the replay? I thought maybe they called something away from the ball, but never got another look to see if anything was there.

That foul was misapplied. Should have been Naz (for a very light chest bump to the guy's extended forearm).

I thought they mixed up the numbers two one and one one.

It was part of a referee training exercise for the upcoming KU game!

How did you read my mind, I mean't to make that exact post!

T was complete BS, not to mention it took them like 5+ min to come to a conclusion on it. EJim plays very physical and fast and never seems to get the benefit of the doubt from refs.
