It's possible Leath and JP genuinely believe they are doing the right thing. It's possible they believe Bubu did violate the student code of conduct.

Also, reread some of the stuff you've posted on this site. JP isn't alone in acting whiny and juvenile.

There have been many times where I've thought JP should have booted guys off the football team in the past, but he hasn't. He let them play. Heck, he let David Irving come back well before anything was decided in his assault case. But he thought that was the "right" thing to do, huh?

Ok, I got it now. JP decides which criminals he'll let play at ISU. But Bubu, who isn't even a criminal, isn't allowed to. I got it. It all makes sense now. Clear as day.

When your AD plays favorites, then you have no rule of law. That's where we're at. Way to go JP!

Just to make sure you catch up to reality, this is not through yet. The legal appeal is pending and will be convened later. The process is being followed. Who knows where it goes, but it is not over.

Those decisions are decided by a committee, not just JP. I don't understand it all either, but I'm also not the one in the room making those decisions.

And let's say JP makes those decisions himself, how do you know he plays favorites? Do you personally talk to him and know which players he likes best?

How can JP seriously say anything about "Honor Before Victory" when there's a convicted felon on the football team? How many problems did he have with Royce White joining us in Ames even though he had legal issues at Minnesota? David Irving is still on our football team correct?

It just ticks me off SO much when I think about who JP has allowed to put back on an ISU uniform and represent this school that I love.

But Bubu Palo, who hasn't been found guilty of anything whatsoever by the courts of this land, for some reason unknown to all of us, has no "honor" according to JP and should not be on the team.

I don't think religion rules JP's life like some have said on here. Money does. Something just reeks of money in all of this to me. JP has always been about money. Anyway that he can raise a buck is all that has mattered to him. So I'm assuming that is what is going on here too. I'll bet a big time donor is friends with the "victim" in this Bubu case and is threatening to not donate money anymore to ISU. That is what would make JP act like this IMO.

The difference that I see in this case is that it was presented for review to the student board of conduct which is Leath. I do not believe that the other cases mentioned were petitioned in that way. That's why Leath and JP have made their opinion public. Just what I see as a difference in the cases....I could be wrong though.

Bingo! Everyone has exhausted all the avenues in this case. It's over and done with. Life goes on. I could not agree more!

But Leath and JP are the ones who can't let it lie. They're the whiny little kids that can't leave well enough alone and are going down kicking and screaming about how they don't think Bubu should be on the team and he has no "honor".

What kind of position does that put Fred in right now? I'll tell you where..... SCREWED. If Fred didn't care so much about Iowa State, I'd bet he'd be gone for sure. I can only hope his love for this school is stronger than his disgust in the position his bosses have put him in here. What a joke.

Well said. The only question I have is that is this really done? As much as JP and Leath may dislike the district court being involved in this (which is astonishing in itself since its' a step in their own student appeals process) if this case isnt' settled in the next couple of months won't it go to trial? There Leath and JP may have to answer a lot of questions on people's minds whether they like it or not. And if that happens, how can that not be a disaster they have brought to ISU athletics. And don't blame BuBu for this. He's only doing what any of the rest of us would do if we felt we were being falsely accused by a woman shown to be uncredible and some isu officials willing to believe her over one of their scholar athletes.

How else do you reconcile the inconsistent decisions made by our AD on matters of athletic participation? I can't do it. He let David Irving come back before the courts came to any decision in his case. So even though this Bubu thing isn't over, he still doesn't want him back for some reason. Why?

JP thought all these other convicted criminals that he let play football at ISU did have "honor"? Really? If so, JP sure has an interesting definition of "honor".

You call BuBu's friend a scumbag? I could give you a description of the woman I heard from someone familiar with the situation in Ames, but I won't. Too often those kind of words being thrown around are opinion and not necessarily the truth, so calling him a scumbag probably says more about you than him.

agreed. Regardless of how one feels about this situation it is just really unprofessional to tweet the Registers somewhat misleading headline as if Leath was referring to Bubu directly with that quote (as opposed to future recruits). How does that help the situation? At this point there needs to be some kind of détente. Instead he is adding tension to an already very tough situation. He has had many very questionable and unfortunate statements and tweets over the years but implying a student is not honorable (even if true) over social media is way out of bounds for an education proffessional. They need to apply.soe.kind of filter or cooling mechanism before he communicates. He is becoming increasingly out of control. I have defended him in the past because I think he is a great AD but it is getting tougher and tougher to do so.

ps. I have no problem with Leath's actual statement. It makes me feel like he likely had some rationale for his decision even if I disagree with that rationale it is much better than what it appeared.
