Whoever the OC ends up being, I hope Rhoads basically hands them the offense and keeps his hands off for the most part.

There were rumblings on this site during the season that Mess wanted to take more shots down the field, but Rhoads was against it. Who knows if this is true, but if it is, then it says a LOT about our struggles. Rhoads knows defense. If it was Rhoads that was behind our offense being so conservative, then he has to keep out of it IMO, and let an expert handle the offense.

At this point, I'm almost hoping it is Coach K. and we just go completely with the Pistol. I just want our offense to have some kind of identity. This year it was a complete mess of about 3 different offensive philosophies all mixed together. We ran some of what Mess likes to do, some of what Klenakis likes to do (Pistol), and some of of Sturdy likes to do as well. And who knows how much influence Rhoads might have had too. It was a joke.

If we hand it over to Klenakis, just let him go all out full Pistol and see what happens IMO. My worry is we keep Klenakis as OL coach, hire some other OC, and then we end up running some of what the new OC wants, some of what Klenakis wants, etc. I just want everyone on the same page.

Rhoads is very hands off with the offense so the rumblings here are false.

From everything I've heard, the chances are slim it will be coach K, but I wouldn't be mad about it if he was announced as the OC.

No offense to you or anyone who thinks this, but it is absurd to say that Rhoads was the one who mad the offense to conservative. There is no way that the same coach who gave us all of the special team gambles and such is to conservative. Now if it comes out that he was I'll take it back, but I just don't see how someone who gambles on everything else and does it well is holding the offense back.

I do agree however that we need to pick a style and stick with it.

What is it that u have heard. All that has been stated is Coach K or Sturdy. Then last week it was reported that the OC has ties to the Big XII.

From what i've heard, it may be Flynn. I know some people in the Grand View athletic offices, and it sounds like he's the guy.

Do you know it's not him or are you just being snide?

I think there is a better chance that he is brought in as a position coach, and that is what the rumblings at Grandview are related to. But, I don't think it is an impossibility or a bad hire if he is the guy.

I have no doubt he could be a really good position coach

Don't understand this if it happens. I just don't see how he gets the job over coach K.

Agree with this - would love to have Flynn back in the fold coaching a position. However, it would be a monumental leap to jump from his experience in coaching to overseeing the offensive side of the ball. Was he the offensive coordinator at Grandview? According to his coaching bio, it refers to his coaching experience on the defensive side of the ball.

Either way - CPR knows this is a huge hire and can make or break his future. I've interviewed and hired people and that was not even close to the impact this hire will have directly on Rhoads future success.

Good Luck CPR - pick wisely!!!!

I wouldn't mind him as a position coach, but it's far too early to be talking OC position for him.

He was the OC. I have a friend at GVU that says he is an awesome coach and has really good concepts. He hasn't heard anything about him leaving them however.

I hope the people who lol at Flynn as OC do the same with the suggestion of Sage. Flynn actually has coaching experience, unlike Sage.
