Ejim out 4-6 weeks

Guessing Hogue slides down to the 4 and Long jumps into the starting lineup. Should be able to make it through the duration of his injury only dropping 1-2 games. Not the end of the world, still sucks though.

These other guys will just have to step up. May not affect the won-loss record that much in the non-conference games any way...time will tell. Biggest hit, imo, will just be to team chemistry....getting to know each other in game situations. In the end though, it might really help players like Gibson, Hogue, Edozie. Someone has to step up.

Sure wish Amardi was still around.

we need the non-conference wins to make the NCAA tourney, this could definitely damage those hopes

One thing of note, the committee does take into account injuries. So if we take care of business in the games we should win even without Ejim, it shouldn't effect our tourney status. Even with Ejim we can afford to lose to Michigan and BYU. Auburn and Northern Iowa are going to be important non-conference games. Games that we should win, but will be more difficult to win without Ejim.

Optimist here... He just injured it yesterday. His knee is probably flared up or swollen today. The trainers could be projecting 4-6 weeks as a caution. Michigan is over two weeks away. He could be back. Maybe?

Am I the only one who thinks this will only sway one game... maybe? It might only effect the Michigan game. I think we win out in Non-con and the Michigan game was leaning towards us and now it is ever so slightly leaning towards Michigan.

I don't know how anybody can truthfully think that this injury shouldn't affect our non-conf record. I think it hurts big time. And, no , I'm not being over-dramatic or underestimating our players. You're taking the most athletic, most experienced, and biggest leader off of a team with a small amount of frontcourt depth the way it is. Sure, others will get more valuable playing time to help down the road, but games like UNI, BYU, and others just became a whole lot tougher. Heal fast, Mel!
