Fan since 1963

Not to pile on with the negativity, but one could easily argue that each of the last five years has been a down year, especially considering where most people want this program to be. At some point, I would like to see us finish above .500, win more than 3 league games and rise above 8th place, and not get humiliated in a bowl game against an opponent from a lesser conference.

I want to see this program get to a point where seasons like 2009 are considered "down" years.

We were told on the call in show last night by Pollard to have low expectations since we are Iowa State

We could join the MAC, too.

Or, we could just stop making excuses and start beating more teams in the Big 12.
Yes, and being irrational is not going to make that happen. The first four years were not the goal, but it was a decent start. Almost everyone realized going into Year 5 we needed changes on offense and that this was going to be a down year. Program growth is not monotonic.

I have seen this so many times in the last 50 years. The excuses are injuries and we are soooo young. We hear, 'wait until next year' and,.... 'good fans should hold steady and stay the course' For me. it's just too many times and I refuse to fall for it again. It is clear that this is the beginning of the end for this staff. One (maybe 2) more wins this year and, with luck, four wins next year with few in the stands for the last 3 home games. Hope will be lost so we will need a new coach. With the new guy and staff, Hopes get raised, fail, cycle and repeat. After all, -- We are Iowa State! Ugg, evermore nevermore.

All that life experience, yet still throwing a tantrum. Good job.

What exactly is irrational about wanting more than a .500 finish within a span of five years?

Said at Iowa State you can't expect 9 wins a year, but then went on to say we need to compare ourselves to teams like Kansas State or Wisconson which makes no sense since both expect 10 win seasons. I about fell out of my chair. When I played football we expected to win every game are the Iowa State players not to expect a win every game? If not, what exactly are they playing for.

If that's true that seems worrisome.

You've invested 50 years and this year is enough to push you over the edge?

He didn't say he was quitting being a fan or not supporting the team but he thinks he has seen this once too many times before and that Rhoads is starting his downturn much like McCarney did or other previous coaches. I hope not, Rhoads has been okay but these types of seasons really put a huge skid mark on your resume and when your next coaching opportunity comes along a lot of ADs wont want to hear the excuse that hes been throwing out all season, "injuries and being young" because lots of teams have injuries and tons play young players and still manage 6 wins. Nobody should ever win just 1 game at $2 million per year. That is inexcusable especially when you have a sold out crowd every home game.

The chicks, duh.

So six wins is the top of the mountain at ISU? A winning conference season is impossible then I suppose?

How was he implying that in any way, shape or form in that post? I swear losing makes fans lose every grasp of reason and rationality...

I can understand why this year would push someone over the edge.

Even though there have been far worse periods of time for ISU, it could push one over the edge to feel like it finally might be the time we take that step beyond sucking, the fans are more on board than ever, and the program has more money than ever... only for us to be the same old cyclones.

This spot on here, I get the give give give campaign but what have we got got got? I was told to be all in, so the wife and I donated more this year than ever, it's just painful. 1-6 is just....a slap in the face maybe?
