I ain't taking that troll bait Doc. That thread is over with.

I would think you would have to keep conferences the way they are now for everything outside of college football. Or you could have huge 30 team conferences and just kind of do playoffs for the other sports that way.

This idea is absurd for a variety of reasons.

Super scholarship has been mentioned before... in this very thread I believe. While you may think it is absurd, it allows the smaller schools (which is us btw) to compete for higher recruits if teams can only pay a certain number of players.

He keeps flinging crap against the wall....

With the new TV deal being negotiated, it does make sense for the B10 to eye Texas, just like the P12 did. And the B10 will fail to get them, just like the P12.

I'm sure Texas would value B10 academics and CIC membership and might make some extra money, but it sure as heck doesn't benefit Texas at all for any of their programs (rev and non-rev) to compete in the B10. Especially non-rev sports like baseball which Texas values alot.

There are a number of comments on Twitter today regarding the B1G's next moves. One interesting thing I found out, not on Twitter but from a friend in the Athletic Department at UVA is that the GOR in the ACC is not yet in effect. She and I were talking about a number of things and this little bit of news was brought up and was a shock to me. This, combined with all of the B1G chatter (conversation of them going to 16 OR 20) makes me wonder if their sites are still on some of those ACC teams. I'm sure it's all nothing, but I do find it interesting considering the recent Maryland and Rutgers moves combined w/ the ACC taking the half-step back from the ledge.

If GOR for ACC is not yet in effect, Delaney and the BIG group will be on the prowl. They need at least sixteen teams at some point. They want to be bigger than the SEC in importance. BIGness is one way to do it. The arms war is still on.

big 10 causing carnage is probably okay for big 12, which can sit around pickup the droppings if desirable.

Exactly. I see nothing but good news for ISU and the B12 if the B1G goes off raiding the ACC. The only attractive expansion options I see for us are ACC schools, and we wouldn't be the ones to make the first move. Let the B1G pick off a couple and then make a move for FSU and Clemson, or whoever else may be left. I like the idea of getting back to 12, some east coast schools could help tie in WVU a bit more, and additional exposure to the southeast for recruiting purposes can't hurt either.

The B1G raiding the ACC would be a good thing for ISU even if the Big XII didn't expand right away to grab up some ACC teams. Right now (assuming 16 is the max for any conference) there are 2 spots each in the B1G and SEC and 4 spots in the Pac-12. The Pac-12 swooping in and grabbing Texas/Oklahoma and two others is always a low burn concern, but the SEC and B1G picking off the carcass of the ACC (I'd guess GT and either Virginia or UNC to the B1G & Clemson/Florida State to the SEC) would push them both up to 16 and remove any worries about the Big XII falling apart before the GOR is up in 2025 or 2026. And there is no point losing any sleep now about 2026 because there is no way to guess what the landscape will be like in a decade.

Edit: The SEC and B1G expanding would kill the Pac-12s ability to grab four Big XII members before the GOR is up because four schools leaving wouldn't be enough to dissolve the conference and kill the GOR, and there would be nowhere for the other six to go that would be better than fighting to keep the GOR alive.
