i think everyone on this site will be disappointed if they are not darn near identical to the mock ups
This. The mock ups were amazing.

coming up on the 40th anniversary of naming the stadium for him
2013 - 1997
Actually the field was named for him ad Jack Trice field at cyclone stadium in jan 1848 so tech. Yes 40
Ugh, those things look awful, especially the socks. Hope it's a one time thing.
Correct. The spirit of Jack pleased with cyclone football, whether you read into it being successful black athletes playing and equal (throwback to his letter) or just ISU in general. Either way, simple, yet powerful. A true teaserI'm guessing we won't have sweater jerseys. I'm thinking that was just a tip of the hand as to what we will have, though they will be modernized and sleek. I think they used the "sweater" ones to convey that it was supposed to be Jack Trice in his original uniform.
Of course, I have no info on this, but that's how I saw it.
I put this in the commercial thread but figured I can put it here to.
Friend of mine worked on the commercial. Which resulted in the following dialog:
cyguy: did they say anything about the jersey Jack Trice was wearing? Like "the team is wearing something like this for one of the games."
friend: hahahaha MY LIPS ARE SEALED
cyguy: what?!
alright...
friend: i know exactly what you're talkking about
i have intel
Sorry 1984First, not 1848.
Second, "Cyclone Stadium/Jack Trice Field", not whatever you tried to type.
Third, 2013 - 1984 = 29.
Prototypes might be a bit strong of a word. There's been mockups that creative, passionate fans have done...and they've been freaking awesome, I'm not downplaying what's been floating around, but to say they're prototypes:
1, overstates the 'officialness' of them...if we all decided because we liked monkeys, we should have a red arsed monkey on the helmets, someone did a really nice rendering of said helmet and everyone loved it, that doesn't make it a prototype.
2, is unfair because it doesn't necessarily represent what we'll see. As someone else said, even if a Jack Trice era throwback is done, it doesn't mean it'll look anything like what's been thrown around.
national ESPN or longhorn? The Texas game is on ESPN. The game is on FS1.
But why do I care ill be at the games.
national ESPN or longhorn?

That was discussed, and it was mentioned the uniform in the commercial was a wool sweater, essentially the same material used back then, with no numbers visible. It was to essentially match Jack Trice's photos to create the character. If we see throwbacks, it won't be the same as the commercial.I didn't read through the whole thread (made it to page 6), but it's in the new ISU football commercial on Cyclones.tv. With white pants.

I'm referencing the pics on the first page of this thread.....ugly.
You absolutely wear them for TX if it is actually happening. This is about more than just cool jersey's. Think of the recruiting exposure from the story of Jack Trice. Not only is Trice's story inspiring, but the support he had from the Ames community at that time (when it was rare most places), and still in modern ISU history when it was the student body that demanded the stadium be named after him. Then the fact that it remains the only stadium in college football named for an African American. It's a story that is not even as well known in Iowa as it should be, putting it on a national stage is a no brainer. You don't waste that on a game which is primarily viewed by in state viewers. You want Texas high schoolers watching that story.
That way instead of the national broadcast showing a cornfield a barn and a silo somewhere miles away from Jack Trice they're broadcasting the statue of Jack Trice, or the name on the side of the stadium, or the mural of Jack Trice in the entrance of our brand new state of the art practice facility. And those kids who play HS football in TX don't end the game thinking that ISU is in the middle of a massive corn field with no sign of any sort of civilization.
