Nick Babb

Babb Bros. BBQ in Dallas is great. I can't wait to go back! The sausage was amazing.

Good for Nick...sounds like the family realizes how much fun it is to go to games and being closer to home would make that much more affordable / doable. I can appreciate that.

I would guess we're his northern choice...and he's looking at southern schools as comparison. All of this hinging on Fred either missing on enough other players OR Babb proving he's a top target worthy of passing on the others we have been working on getting.

No doubt our ship situation makes this a much tougher deal for all parties. Clearly he's a player that you'd love to have...and the family just makes it that much better. However, it's hard to turn down top 40 guys that fit needs if they're available.

Have we made a BaBBQ offer yet? #127 is pretty good.

No offer that I know of, but I'm guessing we would be watching with interest. Which reminds me of how different each and every player is. Some 2014's are waiting til the fall right before the Nov. signing date, yet others like a Grandstaff pull the early trigger already as a 2015. Interesting.

Don't we all agree that we'd be showing more interest in Babb but we are already trying to land 2 top 100 SF or PF or C types? That is our main needs due to all the guards we already have and that will be returning plus Custer.

Per his brother's twitter he's visiting
Texas A&M right now!

The Texas A&M basketball program is in a major rebuilding mode as they look to add more pieces to the team in hopes of getting the program back to annual lock for the NCAA Tournament each year. Arlington Martin shooting guard*Nick Babb*was recently offered by Texas A&M and is very excited about the offer.
"Coach Kennedy called last Thursday to offer me," said Babb. "He said he likes the way I play and that he needs a good combo guard that can dribble and score."Texas A&M has moved into the list of leaders for Nick Babb.Babb is coming off a year of averaging 16 points, eight rebounds, and three assists for Arlington Martin last season. The 6 foot, 4 inch, 180 pound shooting guard already has a top 4 in mind."Arkansas, SMU, Texas A&M, and Tulsa are my top schools right now," he said. "The only school I will visit not on that list is Texas Tech."As far as an A&M visit, Babb would like to take one to College Station in the near future."I don't know when I can visit, but I would like to visit Texas A&M soon," he said. "Texas A&M is a school is a good college that is in a good conference-they will also be making a comeback in basketball real soon."Even though Babb likes Texas A&M, he did admit two schools are recruiting him harder right now."Arkansas and SMU are recruiting me the hardest right now," said Babb. "I really like coach Larry Brown, he is a historic coach and he has a great coaching staff and I can play there soon, since their leading scorer is leaving after next season."Babb will be looking for two things when he tires and decide what school will be the best fit for him."I want a school where I can have an immediate impact," said Babb. "I also want a school that has good fan support, win or lose."Babb will be deciding what school he will commit to in the very near future so he does not have to worry about it going forward."I want to commit right before school starts back up," he said. "That way I don't have to worry about it my senior year."For now, Babb has a busy summer filled with basketball tournaments with his AAU team Texas Select."I've got a lot of tournaments coming up," he said. "I am resting this weekend, but after this weekend it will pretty much non-stop basketball and lifting weights."

"good fan support, win or lose" .... perhaps hearing that from Chris, or observing it himself, was an ISU generated thought. Looks like A&M could be his favorite now.

Just give it up people. He isn't coming here. He is making his decision in a month and we haven't been mentioned once.

Just read a Rivals article where Nick quoted something to the effect ... "my brother told me not to go far away because none of my family could come watch me" . Perhaps, that is why all of his interest list is anywhere south of Tulsa. Not saying Chris doesn't want him to go to ISU, but perhaps he realizes how great it would have been to play closer to his family. Now, whether we have held back an offer to Nick knowing this, I have no clue. Just thought it was interesting quote.

i think he is referring to going to somewhere like Penn State, which is not only far away and hard to get to, but also in a conference that doesn't even play a game close to home.
