The thing that stands out the most to me is how his stats got worse every year. Hopefully Fred can turn that around.

Not really that simple. It was obvious he was moved to Point last season because his assists jumped 5/game. Different position brings different opportunities and adjustments.

I'll take 15 points and 7 assists per game, thank you very much. Just take him off the floor at the end of close games, because that 60% FT shooting isn't going to cut it.

Good point, although hopefully Fred can improve that percentage.

I think Bubu and Kane may be on the floor together in that situation, because they will probably be our two best defending guards. Bubu shoots FT's well too.

Bubu over Man-man? I seriously hope you're wrong...walk-on most likely won't play over a top 100 recruit. Sorry, not trying to turn this into a bash Bubu thread but we all know it eventually will....

My most favorite part of this board is that you can drag this old posts up. It's awesome. 54 pages in a couple of months regarding Kane? Crazy.

Why does everyone want this kid? 3star outa HS, kicked off (or asked not to return) of Marshall, missed his first year because of grades (and then managed to graduate easily). Played poor teams and when played decent teams, got killed. cant shoot FT, cant shoot 3's, poor fg%. Wears a high number (#50) as a guard which makes me think that he might be crazy.

Does everyone just go crazy over a high PPG average?

He also completely demolished his locker room. His teamates said either he goes or we all go and the coach said bye bye to Kane instead of finding a bunch of walk ons. I get the whole we helped royce/royce helped us thing but this guy is pretty much a grenade.

I'm always afraid when these threads get bumped that I find myself saying something stupid. I only read the first 8 pages, but I'm okay in this one so far

This kind of thread resurrection is the reason I never have a strong opinion on any recruit, coach, or new developments. And if I do, I usually throw in some sort of disclaimer, so nothing can be thrown back in my face.

If you want to have some more fun, go to the Marshall discussion boards.

If you want to have some more fun, go to the Marshall discussion boards.

Can you imagine Marshall fans hearing about Kane leading the #9 team in the nation and halfway through the season in Player of the Year discussions? Also can you imagine knowing what we know now (that Bubu wouldn't be on the team), not getting Kane? Monte is so good, but it would be really easy to sink if all of the PG duties were on his shoulders.

This brings up an interesting point that Fred made on Tuesday night when talking about the success of Kane. He mentioned that guys like Melvin (and Georges and Naz) are partially responsible for the transfer thing working out. You've got to have 4 year guys that are willing to deal with 1 or 2 years guys coming in. And get them involved in the team. And not have divisions among the players.

I'm intrigued by this year's team especially, because it seems as though they could kind of be like fighting siblings. Someone is always yelling about something. I also think it seems like (with basically little to back this up) that Melvin is having even more fun this year than he has the other 3 years.

Winning helps of course. I do sometimes worry that if we lose 2 or 3 or 4 games in a row if things start to go south and Kane's hard attitude is not as easy to deal with. But I guess I have to have something to worry about. (What if we don't win more than 16 games? What if we really aren't that good? What if Kane decides to not be a team player? What if Monte decides to leave? My god, I liked McDermott, but I think I am battle scarred from that.)
