Royals

Pay no attention the ****** players we choose to continually employ......HOF HITTING COACH!!!!! Dayton Moore is frickin' joke.

George Brett can't be any worse than this guy though...although the problem is both Yost and Dayton Moore think along these same absurd lines.

Here's the thing: Other teams come in here from Anaheim or wherever the have their swing already down, this park doesn't even enter into their minds when they hit here.

Colon was an awful pick (even at the time) but Sale and his elbow are a ticking time bomb...

You can say the same for most starters. But most starters aren't aces. And when Sale has Tommy John, nowadays chances are he'll come back just as good as before.

This is one of the best paragraphs I've read in a long, long time. It's from Joe Posnaski's blog.

I don’t know Jack Maloof, he has been around baseball many years, and he has many people who swear by him including Tony Gwynn, so I mean no disrespect to his coaching abilities. But those might be the most illogical 45 words I’ve ever read in a row. Seriously, if he had said: “Hot dog telephone sweet frog livable water supply chicken tennis ball lunatic monster potato glass teflon wrist house fire tackling dance toboggan muffin spark shoelace kissing Qatar ballooned bandana post Baltimore coast kangaroo sassafras disco shines McGovern landing pen minibar flagging sailing palm digit sanitizer,” it would have made exactly the same amount of sense. I don’t even know where to begin, the thing is so irrational that it almost seems impolite to point that Anaheim is a lousy hitters park too.

Some quick research:

Moustakas - .178
Francoeur - .217
Escobar - .249
Hosmer - .263
Butler - .269
Getz - .210

You can't have 5 guys in your lineup hitting below .270 and expect to win many games.
Yup; they've changed plenty coaches in the past and still get the same results

I'm starting to think Maloof was a very fitting name for the former hitting coach.

Joe Blogs: Another Royals Power Update

OK, when I read his comments last night I was blown away. I'd never seen anything dumber in my life. I think we all were in shock that this moron was our hitting coach.... especially in light of the fact that one of the stated reasons for firing Seitzer was to get into the mindset and swing of hitting more homeruns. At least, for once, the Royals did something midly intelligent and fire this dude. Even Ned Yost and Dayton Moore had to be blown away when they read those ridiculous comments.

This organization is doomed as long as the Glass family is running things. They have bought into the anti-sabermetric approach of the current KC front office (really, KC is pretty much the only MLB team that refuses to take advantage of analytics), which is really stupid since most of those people will tell you a team like KC needs strong scouting and drafts.

i wasnt going to comment till they won, but it took a Jeff Francouer homerun off of a guy with a 10+ era in the 9th to tie a game to get us a win.
George Brett is a world class ******* but if they hit a little for him then so be it. The pitching has stayed good through this stretch so there is hope. Ned Yost is a idiot. and the following sentence hurts to say and I cannot believe i'm writing it, but:
I never thought the Royals would miss Jarod Dyson as much as they have.

Ouch, that hurt.

sure you can if they are OBPing in the mid 300's and higher. None of those guys walk at all either, which is mostly the problem. The Royals are the last team to take on any sort of sabermetric principles. Its because Dayton is a "scouts, scout" and refuses to acknowledge, "those pencil neck nerds that have never played the game"

^^^
This was in response to you can't have a bunch of guys hitting under 270 in your lineup

Right when that pitcher came in, my Cardinals-fan buddy immediately said he was going to lose them the game. Gave me a good chuckle :biglaugh:

AND a walk, hit batter, error, and lucky hop on a groundball.

how would you like to be Mitchel Boggs knowing that Francouer took you deep. Might as well go be a high school baseball coach after that.
