DeAndre Kane visiting next week

Definite pattern.....18 good posts about why getting Kane matters. 1 post from a naysayer.

I don't care what Kane did at his old school. If Fred likes him and wants him that's the end of it to me.

Kane adds experience in the guard court we desperately will need next year regardless of minute distribution among current and incoming players. We want the best 5 players on the court period.

Are people considering JUCO players transfers and if so why?

Shouldn't. They have to transfer somewhere. If that is the case, Fred's "way" was learned from Tim Floyd...

From Brent Blum:
So what type of players did Tim Floyd get? His '95-96 Big 8 tournament champions and '96-97 Sweet 16 squad included starters: Dedric Willoughby -- transfer from New Orleans, Kelvin Cato -- transfer from South Alabama, Kenny Pratt -- transfer from College of Eastern Utah, Shawn Bankhead -- transfer from College of Southern Idaho.

Just because someone has talent doesn't mean he deserves to start.

I think people aren't reading deep enough into this post. A player who is talented, inexperienced and lazy could easily not be the best player at his position and therefore not deserve to start.

Most talented player =/= Best player

Think about how often a player is talked about with the phrase "what a waste of talent".

Judging from the responses, nobody knows If he actually made it to campus today?

Obviously this is too hard to understand. Just because someone has talent doesn't mean they are the best player or that they have earned a starting spot.

I know what you meant. I just find your post stupid considering you don't go to practice to see if he has earned the spot.

Missouri, Illinois, Iona.

Prior to Fred doing it?

Obviously taking transfers is not new, but Fred's approach to take that many transfers in that short of time was rare, if not innovative. The narrative of him having a part in other programs seeing the transfer market as an equal to high school recruits is valid.

Is he eligible to play next season? I'm sure this has already been discussed but I don't feel like going through 29 pages of this thread to find it

I didn't say he hadn't earned it. Learn some reading comprehension skills and get back to me

On a similar note, deserving to start is such a temporal or fluid condition, are you missing the intent of the orginial commen? No one has earned a starting spot, so
it is all speculation, even for Georges and Ejim. Obviously past performance makes those two deserving of the speculation. Past those two there is not much data to go on, but I could easily see the argument that SDW has the profile to deserve (warrant) the nod over complete newcomers.

I do not think SDW has earned to start, but I think he is deserving of being speculated as the likely starter.

HerdNationNews just tweeted that he is visiting today. Not sure if that's reliable though. Hope he actually made it and avoided the rain.

Wow amazing that everyone took me in exactly the opposite way that I meant that post to be taken. I fully support the transfer route, and hope it continues as I think its a big part of the future of CBB. I also think Fred is the innovator of it. I was merely stating that bringing in the gaggle of transfers wasn't the "norm" or "standard" way to build a team. If it is now, I'm sorry you're right.

As posted above, Tim Floyd did it to fill a depleted roster back in the 90s. Difference was the supply of transfers available. There are something like 450 transfers in NCAA today. That is a lot of inventory from which to pick. You don't think Floyd would have taken some more transfers if he could have?

I don't think it was innovation. I think it was timing. We needed bodies at the same time a lot were available. He didn't have to scour the juco ranks. He could get talent by taking transfers instead. Yes, it's rare. But so was his situation.
