NBA: *** NBA Playoffs Thread V2.0 ***

I was never a fan of the "bad boy" pistons... but they would destroy lebron.

On one hand by today's rules the Pistons would be called for a ton of fouls and Miami would live at the line. On the other hand by the 80s/early 90s rules LeBron, Wade and Floppier wouldn't be constantly rewarded for falling down on purpose then crying. My guess is LeBron and Wade would adjust and play like men instead of babies and still be excellent players...but you can't ignore they do play like babies compared to past generations of stars, both in how often they fall down on purpose and in how often they cry like babies to the officials, especially Wade.

I have always and still love Tiger.

I think I get what you're saying, but I also think the Heat are worse than most NBA teams at the qualities I listed. I'm not going to accept an argument that other NBA teams are just as bad, because I can't see anybody making a legitimate argument that other NBA teams in the playoffs *****, moan, and react like the Heat do. Chalmers was the biggest ****** on that Kansas team, and he's tame compared to Wade, Bosh, and LeBron. These guys are embarrassing. Watch them compared to Ray Allen and Battier. Emotion is good, but it can exacerbate the bad as well as the good, and when these guys let emotion take hold, it's usually bad.

I'm a fan of watching unprecedented greatness and I still think Tiger can be GOAT so I'm always intrigued to watch him. I was a fan of LeBron early on for the same reasons but between the decision, celebrating a championship before winning a game and then the biggest statistical choke in NBA Finals history (that much cannot be argued, it's a statistical fact) that followed I really don't think there's much of a chance. In my opinion there's no doubt he's the most talented ever, maybe in any sport, but I doubt I'll ever think of him as the greatest player.

Exactly. Every team probably has one of those guys...the Heat have 12.

I'm falling in love with this Indiana team, but I kind of feel they were just really lucky as an organization. The development of George and Hibbert has been incredible, and the moves for Stephenson,Hill, and West were good, but damn...I feel like an organization that can put together a starting 5 that can beat Miami straight up like this should be able to put a bench together.

In all fairness, they were counting on Stephenson to shore up the bench this year before Granger was unable to come back from the bad knee. Mahinmi and Augustin just didn't pan out. But it would have been nice if they had pursued a veteran scorer at some point during the season even if it was just as an insurance policy. Next year should be better with Granger or Stephenson providing some punch as the sixth man.

Ah, the good old days of the NBA where the Pistons-Celtics-sometimes Lakers would tackle a guy going in for a lay-up.

Who doesn't miss that?

Disagree on Mahinmi, he was a key bench player for mavs during their championship and does a solid job for hibbert when he's on the bench. mahinmi is not a bust.

The Pacer's offense is much better than I thought it was. They've got a legit shot at making the finals and it's because of their offense rather than their defense.

It's too bad the ****** officiating is overshadowing how well the Pacers played yesterday.

Yeah, something would give. I, for one, think if the game was more physical, like it was back then, Lebron would actually be even better. It's not like he's Allen Iverson or some little guy.

It would turn into whack a mole.

Just saw the moving screen call on LeBron. Anyone who complains about that call is obviously a Miami Heat shill. Not only were his feet stretched out way beyond shoulder-width apart, he still had to hip check the guy trying to go over the top of the screen. Obvious moving screen, and gutsy call-- considering the perp and the game situation.

I saw it in an article by Deadspin's Tom Ley, who was complaining about the call. I imagine that he's a print writer and not a video journalist for the sole reason that it's a lot easier to type than it is to speak on camera with LeBron's **** in your mouth.

I don't think anyone said it was a bad call. They just said it's basically never actually called.

@Tre4ISU: ok, I could maybe agree with that. It still looked pretty obvious, and if the Heat got closer at the end of the game because of that, I'd be ****** off if I had any idea who actually played for Indiana.

As far as putting this Miami Heat team back in the 80s with the physical defenses, I'm sure they would adjust. Talent shows through, and this team is loaded with talent. They would compete just fine with the Bad Boys.

LeBron does not commit fouls. He is god. He is advertising dollars on the move. Did the ref not like LeBron's cuter smirk?

I agree, Jordan was stronger than almost everybody guarding him (although didn't always have the crazy length advantage LBJ does). Because he avoided injury with one season exception he came out on top as people tried and failed to injure him on his way to an untouchable playoff scoring average. The entire league would score less, but the strongest and most athletic players (LBJ) would probably be hurt on O less than everyone else as long as they avoided injury.

It was a foul, but I haven't been as surprised at a foul call...maybe ever. I honestly thought if the game were called better LeBron would have had just 4-5 fouls on the game and Wade was playing on 13 fouls, at some points it was like Wade was just testing what he could get away with on silly fouls.
