DeAndre Kane visiting next week

I would think our opportunity would be a lot more attractive to a SR with one to play

It was actually Hakeem? Hill (Kalil's younger brother) not Carlos.
well in that case the players were right! The hills were pretty full of themselves but hakim way worse they lived down the street from carlos and we used to play basketball with them.

Actually I am guessing the entire team is on a one year scholarship that get's renewed every year. Prior to 2011 multiyear sholarships weren't even allowed by the NCAA. The Big 10 was the first conference to offer them on a limited basis per the school's discresion just last year. I haven't heard anything about a Big 12 school doing this yet. Maybe they have but, I am guessing that would have been leaked and reported on CF by now if ISU were offering 4 year schollys.

As expected, NCAA raises scholarship aid by as much as $2,000 | CollegeFootballTalk

Additionally, the NCAA approved the following legislation October 27, 2011:

  • Multi-year grants up to the full term of eligibility, though one-year grants will remain the minimum. Basically a school can determine the length of a scholarship.
What makes you think only the big 10 is doing this? Or that it is conference policy? That was kind of my point why havent we heard what ISU is doing, if we arent offering multi years then Iowa has an instate advantage over us and if we are weird nobody has asked either way kind of odd it hasnt been covered.

To me, a guy like Chris Babb is why Kane would have a better NBA opportunity at ISU then at Memphis. There were NBA scouts at nearly every Big 12 game Iowa State played in. None came just to see Chris, but were impressed enough by his play to send him an invite to workout. I just don't think you get that same every-night exposure in CUSA, even if you play on a talented team.

Memphis has probably more scouts at their games seeing as they sign a lot of big time talent. Pastner doesn't do much with them but they are all top level guys. Plus they play in an NBA arena so you know at least 1 NBA team can always be there watching.

I wont lose one ounce of sleep if we dont get this kid......id prefer letting Morris take his lumps since he will be here for the long haul...than a one year kid with a ...not so stellar history? Just to band aid an experience issue in our back court. Just my opinion....

The one year band aid has worked out pretty well so far for Fred...

Agreed.....to band aid the scholarship players or lackthereof that fred inherited yes.....but hoping we get past that point soon. This would be a good opportunity to do that.

This tweet is confusing. His visit is up in the air? Like he might just skip it and sign with Memphis?
It could also be a power play on the part of Memphis saying that they will pull their offer if he visits Iowa State.

I get what you're saying. I wouldn't lose sleep over not getting him but if Fred wants him to be a Cyclone than so do I

Why? I want the best team on the floor possible. If that means still getting one year stop gaps, then so be it. I'd rather win and make the tournament doing it that way than doing it the right way and missing the tournament.

A couple freshman PGs that were rated similiarly to Morris are Jelon Hornbeak and Naadir Tharpe. Might as well throw Mike Gesell in there as well. Of course MM could show up and be more Trey Burke than Naadir Tharpe, but I think Kane could help us win a couple more games next year, and I'll take that over more experience for our young guys.

He also wanted Tavon Sledge too......just sayin.

Apples to oranges...no college experience vs 3 years. Not saying Marshall is playing against tough competition but it's a lot easier to judge a 22 year old with experience than a 17/18 year old.

Plus our program is in a completely different situation now than it was Fred's first year
