Wiggins to Kansas

Good for the conference and good for KU... what?

Who gives a **** about the conference and most definitely **** KU. This is terrible news.

Maybe next year isn't that year, but at some point if you want ISU to be great you can't be ******* terrified of the other schools in your conference having good teams. Besides, in what universe were the two games we played against KU next year not going to be some of the toughest games of the season anyway? It's not like he went to TCU and suddenly created an extra contender out of thin air or something.

Maybe Doc Sadler will bring Wiggins with him! :pwink:

I believe it was Andrew Wiggins' brother Nick that claimed Andrew was going to "shock the world" when he made his commitment. It was a play on words because Nick plays basketball for the Wichita State Shockers.

I would love it if one of these one-and-done lottery pick players decided to spend their one college year at some mid-major.

Agree here. This is good for KU and them alone. It's time to beat these pansy's. Who cares about what people think about the conference? Typically, the Big 12 gets their fair amount of teams in the dance...year in and year out. (Quit listening to stupid big 10 backers.) ISU needs to build up our brand... and winning takes care of that. And guess what...Fred is doing it.

Also, beating this kid and dirty KU this year will help build our brand.

I agree, but I don't want a big rivalry game to start between KU and OSU. I want ISU to fill that role.

Seriously. If they are already considered a lottery pick, imagine how impressive they would be playing against mid-major competition. It would only make their stock even higher and their brand more visible. Look at how much visibility Doug McDermott has gotten. Imagine what it would be like if Wiggins went to a school like Creighton or UNI!

Missed the idea of the post completely.

Just out of curiosity, why exactly would I be terrified of a collegiate basketball team? I'm not in college and I sure as hell don't play on a team, so why exactly would I have an emotional response such as 'fear' of a team? It just doesn't make sense. I would categorize my feelings towards KU basketball as 'dislike', that feels more reasonable and justifiably sane from my point of view.

I think things between KU and ISU are more personal then what OSU will be, even if on talent alone KU/OSU is the marquee game next year. And there is always room for more good rivalries.

Is this kid suppose to be better than McLemore? If he is suppose to be this good, then I'm glad we will likely only see him for one year.

He should have gone to Witchita St to play with his Brother. They would have been pretty dang good. Thats what id have done.

To the guy asking if it was unexpected, it was earlier expected to go to Florida State but as of late most experts pointed to Kansas.

The guy has quite a family history. His father Mitchell Wiggins played in the NBA, was suspended 2 years for drugs, and later played in Europe. His mother won 2 silver medals for Canada in the Olympics. His brother plays for Wichita State.

I was a ballboy for the Quad-City Thunder in their first season, when Mitchell Wiggins played for them. He was a great player, but he was also really nice to us kids. Some of the players, you could tell they couldn't stand people. Wiggins was genuine. Hopefully some of that passed down to his kid.

Sorry if I misinterpreted. I just see a lot of people praying for every other Big 12 team to stay down so ISU can just rack up easier conference wins. It would be different if we had been in on Wiggins and had lost him to KU, but since we weren't I guess I'm just excited to see our team get a crack at him. Way more fun to get wins over KU when the naysayers can't say it was a down year for the Jayhawks.

people are acting like Kansas doesn't always have these level of players. Top 4 program in the country. We have beat them with lottery picks and NBA stars. This really isn't anything new.
Silver lining of this, i bet the KSU people are losing their minds. Can't get anyone to go there, best player transferred and now there biggest rival got much better. Go home KSU fan, you're drunk!
