And now they are down a player. Unless Mexico sits back, they could probably name their score with the way South Africa looks
Way too much space. It'll be interesting to see if SA keeps fighting, or if this ends up 4-0
Thankfully, he’s a good athlete so he probably didn’t have to deal much with kids around him making the leap and adding that letter.
Brain dead there by Montes. Got to have some situational awareness out of your captain. Now he misses their hardest game of the group stage against South Korea.
As much as I hate to say it, Mexico looked dangerous. Their quick passing game in traffic is pretty to watch. They simply cannot get out of their own way. If they were to spend more effort in their attack versus playing with their food and trying to game the system, they'd be a real threat.
If they can get England in Mexico City in the round of 16, that crowd will be bonkers. And that may give them a real chance against England.
But I can see either of S Korea or Czechia to give them troubles. So I don’t know it’s for sure they even win the group. Mexico makes a lot of mistakes still and that can be exploited.
An England/Mexico matchup and crowd would be crazy, but I think England is two goals better on most days.
Mexico will spend half the match rolling on the turf when they play this physical Czechia team. I think they will frustrate the hell out of them.
S Korea plays a clean precision game and I fully expect Mexico to live inside their jerseys.

Mexico has traditionally played a bit dirty too. If the refs continue to call it tight, I can see Mexico playing a man down a lot. Or at least be missing some players for suspension.
But I’m not taking much from their match today. S Africa was overmatched and rattled. Their next two games will be more of a challenge and if they struggle, that crowd may turn out to be a detriment as they’ll get impatient.
