No. Its completely different than discussing possible rosters. We know which players are on the team, we know which players the staff is recruiting. You can make legitimate speculation out of those two knowns.

The Dude and Mhver3 just make **** up to stroke their egos, and people eat it up. When you're speculating about Big 12 Expansion, at this point there are no knowns. Everything is 100% hypothetical.

If there were supposed "insiders" on this board who were relentlessly spewing complete falsehoods about whether or not a recruit was coming to ISU, people would run them right out for being idiots. Yet in the case of these clowns people find it entertaining.

SwarthmoreCY is correct, and to use your same analogy: We know which teams are in the ACC, we know which teams the conference is recruiting. You can make legitimate speculation out of those two knowns.

We (Big 12) have come perilously close to cratering a couple of different times. ISU was seriously close to being on the horribly bad end of that, out of no fault of our own. While MHV and Dude are throwing a bunch of turds at the wall, a couple have stuck. And realignment continues. It doesn't mean they're always right, anymore than your speculation is always right about who gets a roster-spot. But the ideas they're trolling are thought-provoking. If this **** wasn't important we wouldn't have had a 1000+ page mega-thread about it.

Realignment is important.

The Dude and Mhver3 are just fans who know nothing more about realignment than anyone else, but act like they do. The ideas they're trolling might be provoking, but they are so full of complete falsehoods that people then take as at least truth-ish-ful, and I just don't get it.

If these guys had any filter, and any of their predictions ever came true, it wouldn't bother me. I just don't how see anyone can take them credibly.

You or I could create a Twitter account, do exactly what they do, and not be any more right or wrong.

Why does anyone find the Dude and MHver3 entertaining?

This isn't rhetorical. I actually want to know why people find other people passing completely made up lies as fact on the internet entertaining. Especially when the idea is that this stuff is supposed to be true and not a joke.

I followed the Dude on twitter for awhile. He's a complete attention *****.

Is it OK to find Tuxedo Yoda entertaining? :jimlad: I was actually bothered when he blocked me on Twitter, not sure what provoked that...

I kind of enjoy the flip-flopping, twisting in the wind, whatever you want to call it when any of these guys are wrong. It's kind of like on the morning satellite radio show i listen to - when someone bombs comedically, they let it rest, enjoy the absolute awfulness. Maybe I've just grown to enjoy that inevitable squirming...

Should Big 12 taken Louisville over West Virginia? Louisville has a pretty dang good sports program right now. Football Sugar Bowl Champs. MBB in Final 4 and probably favorites to win it all. WBB currently beating #1 Baylor by 19 points.

Yeah, what a punk. He blocked everyone that doesn't have a longhorn tattoo.

Shouldve grabbed them both.

Maybe, but actual on-field performance isn't really that important in conference expansion. Expansion is about markets and brands. Louisville isn't an extraordinary market and they need to have 10+ years of success to become a brand, not short term success.

That's not to say I disagree with you that the B12 should've grabbed them both, its just that the TV execs disagree with you and they're the ones pulling the strings on expansion.

UL's brand is superior to TCU's, and a conference member having such success in several sports increases the conference's brand and thus long-term health as much as a couple extra million.

Geography is not in the picture with conference expansion, money and tv sets are. Think about how so many athletic departments rely on ESPN and FOX's paycheck at the end of the year. Take most of that away and well...........I mean we obviously loved our big check did we not? So whatever these execs want schools will have to listen to get that big fat check to survive and keep up with the jone's.

Without their money could we actually keep the great coaches we have now? Or would they leave for a bigger program with more budget than us? Hard to say, but glad we are able to keep who we have now thats for damn sure!!

I always thought Louisville would be a great addition to our conference and am surprised they are not, but maybe the execs didn't see it that way. UL's brand is far better than TCU's
