It was one of the leaders, but a few columnists (Most notably Glen Greenwald of The Guardian) and few Senators (Barbra Boxer & John McCain) raised about a stink about the torture sequences. Greenwald said it showed that torture worked when it didn't. But Greenwald destroyed his whole argument by saying he never saw the movie. Boxer & McCain wanted to know if any classified information was given to the screenwriters by the CIA about the detainee program. I thought Zero Dark Thirty was the best movie I saw last year, but this essentially killed it's chances for Best Picture.

Of course the Best Picture winner is rarely the best movie of the year......

I didn't even think the torture scenes were that bad. I was expecting electrocution and nail-pulling type stuff after all the hub-bub about it.

Right on. I agree with you. I don't see a lot of movies, but I went to Lincoln, Zero, and Argo. Ironically they were the only 3 I went to last year. Argo was good but not Lincoln or Zero good, IMO.

When I read up on Argo, it sounds like some of it was blown out of proportion (the airport scene).

I certainly understand McCain stance on torture, but I was interested to see the "dark side" of how the CIA worked along with the intelligence aspect.
