What about that song by Jimmy Eat World? I loved it, but never did buy the album or hear anything from them after that.
The Middle? I don't think Jimmy Eat World can really be considered a one-hit wonder. They were pretty popular prior to the middle.

Sorry Tx this one doesn't qualify. First, this song is a remake of The Allman Brothers song called "Dreams" and second Molly Hatchet had a couple of hits including "Flirtin' with Disaster".
I never understood why N.E.R.D. didn't do better - I've got a few of their other singles (Everyone Standing In the Line for the Bathroom, etc.), but Pharrell is wicked-talented.

Well...there's a few B's off the top of my head. Big Country is one of the most underrated bands in history, in my opinion. Had a nice career spanning three decades in Scotland.

Good point, and that was a great song too. Especially considering the background to the song.
Ooh, Gin Blossoms did have some other hits - Till I Hear it From You, maybe something on the Empire Records soundtrack... I think? I saw them at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl block party when I was in high school, here's a pic from that night that doesn't show a giant Tostito dropping into a giant vat of cheese at midnight (it was on New Year's Eve):
That's where things can get complicated. Is it OK to include groups that are widely identified by one song (or there's a hunch it'll reach that point) even if they have other chart success/popularity? Does one-hit suggest big song by an otherwise "flash-in-the-pan" or the sole extreme-high by an artist?
A related element: "Tubthumping" is an obvious one-hit candidate (it's a good best-of one-hit), but I didn't include it here because:
(a) Chumbawamba performed for 15 years before it struck (and recorded for about 10 after), almost too much longevity.
and (mainly):
(b) the album containing it is, I think, quite strong overall, with other cuts I consider better. (And I'm sure a lot of people bought it for the single and hated it)
I'm pretty sure Follow You Down was bigger on the charts. Found Out About You also charted. Good 90s band though.
Yeah, I included it on one of the first two pages because I can't honestly name another one of their songs. And I own the Tubthumper album.
