The Under Armor guy (Plank?) responds by telling them to put their money where their mouth is like he has. 100% support from their top athletic supporter.

I don't like it when my best athletic support won't support me 100% Need to keep them boys from floppin around

Iowa's schedule just got easier.
If that punk of a conference doesn't go to 9 games that would be an absolute joke.
You could only play the 6 teams on your side and only 2 from the other?
At least with a 9 game conference schedule and 12 teams with divisions. You can play 5 of your division and 4 out of the 6 in the other. Playing 2 of 7 would be stupid.

12 is the perfect number for a league and divisions Not sure what the heck people are doing here.

MHver3 ‏@MHver3 I am hearing GT and UVA to the Big 10 by next week. At least that's what I'm hearing

But can GT be justified as it's not a "contiguous state" with the Big Ten's footprint? I can't believe the Big Ten sources offered that up as a legitimate justification for choosing UMD and Rutgers...as if they give one solitary **** about that.

Jon Wilner ‏@wilnerhotline Maryland to B1G math: 3.4 mil TV homes in DC/Balt times $1/month sub (approx) times 12 months divided by 14 = $2.9 million/school

I just have to ask if $3 million a year is worth seeing the big boys of Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State less frequently. At what point do you say we have enough money already. We've spent our cash on all the recruiting advantages that already exist. Why do we need more?

Ummmm, Mr. Maryland President, sir, if you can't remember what the CIC stands for when you get around to that part of the announcement, the whole argument that academics is part of your school's decision isn't very convincing. When you forget that after a lengthy statement about the financial side of the decision, it's very unconvincing.

Nicely done. You took a mediocre athletic department and managed to cash in. Congratulations for that. It's an impressive effort.

The chancellor did a much more convincing job with the academic side of things. He seemed like he actually believes that, and went into some good detail.

I like the concept of athletics supporting the university. I can only imagine that this means more money-making endeavors for these non-profit entities. I fully expect to become more jaded as a result of this process.
