Well tomorrow is my surgery for my colon (see colonoscopy and surgery recovery threads.) And I've never had a surgery before and I'm nervous as all get out. It doesn't help that I'm having it at 19 which is exceedingly young to have this type of surgery....

What helps you break the nerves? And I can't have alcohol, I asked that already :v_SPIN:

Marijuana. You can't drink anything, but they don't say you can't smoke anything.

Booze, oh ****.

You'll be good though, the doctor has probably done hundreds of these, there's a reason he gets paid the big bucks. I'd just try to do anything else to keep your mind off of it, tv, vidya games, books, whatev.

If he has e-how.com open when you get there, ask for another doctor.

Find comfort in the fact that you will be in the hands of professionals. You've caught something early that could have had profound impact later on in life. Finally, you're young enough where your healing time should be much quicker and allow you to bounce back.

Good luck.

Not sure if this is standard procedure, but before they put me under when I got my wisdom teeth out, they gave me oxygen through my nostrils. That cooled my nerves while they were doing questions and stuff.

I had surgery in April. Had a big chunk of skin cut out on my belly to remove some skin cancer. I was nervous as hell the night before. Almost on the verge of barfing. You will be fine. In the morning you probably won't be as nervous because you will come to realization its happening no matter what because it has to be done. When I got to hospital I got my IV, wheeled into O.R., got my anesthesia (which feels amazing), you wake up and it's over. Plus you get meds (which are also amazing).

Believe me, when it comes to needles, or anything doctor related, I'm a freakin wimp. The worst part of the whole thing for me was getting the IV. Surgery is the easy part because you are out! Don't stress yourself out. You will be fine.
