NBA: LeBron James wins MVP

He better enjoy it while he can because from here on out for the next 10 years the MVP will be going to Royce White!!

If you think Kobe is better LeBron right now, it's probably even pointless trying to debate this with you. Kobe averaged 27.9 on 43% shooting, LeBron averaged 27.1 on 53% shooting. Kobe's true shooting percentage was .462, LeBron's was a ridiculous .605. LeBron averaged more rebounds, more assists, more steals, more blocks, he's a better defender, he was worth 14.5 win shares, Kobe 6.2. So please tell me how Kobe backs up that he's a better player than LeBron?

Durant's a great player too, but LeBron is still better. It's not even close on defense, LeBron is a much better passer, turns the ball over less and is a more efficient scorer than Durant.

Lol ok.

Last night LeBron posed for a picture with the rest of the members of the 3-MVP - no-ring club...

Moses and Wilt didn't win it all until the year they won their 3rd MVP.

Yes, those stats are how this award is voted on and has been voted on. :twitcy: I guarantee you the majority of people voting for the MVP do not even know what those stats mean.

Doesn't mean those metrics aren't a good indication of who the best player is.

And I've got to agree with cyjack on this one. Lebron is in a league of his own this year. Kobe and KD are great as well, but when it comes to an all around game, Lebron has them trumped. Even offensively Lebron shoots at a higher clip and gets his teammates involved.

Lebrons the best player..he's just not on the best team. People keep saying how great they are, but I don't see it. If they win it all, it will take an unbelievable effort from lebron and wade. They shouldn't be the favorites

They are and absolutely should be favorites to win it all. They have the most talent and easiest road to the finals.

LeBron has never had a dominant center or even an all-star caliber center (at the time they were together). Its hard to win without one. Chris Bosh is about as useful as a poopy flavored lollipop.

Again, that's what I've been told by the media...the team with the 4th best record is a runaway favorite. They've got 2 great players. They have way too many scrubs getting a lot of minutes. Keep trying to convince me 2 great players make a great team. Their bigs are garbage. Thunder have a more talented team overall. I think theres a few teams in the west that have more talent than the heat.

And the team tied with the best record has been knocked out, and the other two have to play each other to get to the finals. All the betting odds show the heat as favorites. The only team in the east left that could give the heat a little trouble are the celtics, but still I don't see it.

I hate arguing for the Heat because I'm not a fan of them at all, but you sound like a bitter bulls fan.

Wrong again. I accepted the bulls fate after Noahs injury. Thats basketball. Injuries happen. And I've seen the betting odds..clearly thats the way the people are betting. I believe a well rounded team with depth wins out over 2 great players. We'll see if the celtics are healthy.. They owned the heat in the regular season. I just think they'll need a few breaks, if they make it to the finals, to meet a team they're actually better than. The thunder have the all-stars and the depth. The heat have a lot of weak links and I'm not sure how much Lebron and wade will have left in the tank if they make it that far.

In the last month, I think fatigue played a factor. They got blown out a lot in the last month. 4 teams that are still in the playoffs beat them by 15 or more..a lot of bad losses. All teams that have depth. They lost 3 times to Boston in April. And those were games they wanted. If they do win, its because Lebron is just that ridiculous. We'll see. Wouldn't be surprised to see them in the finals, but don't like their chances against a lot of the possible west teams they would face. I know the pacers blew them out their last meeting, but I expect miami to handle them. After that, I'm not so sure.

I hope you're right.

The Bulls won 6 championships with spare parts playing the center position.

Noah is significantly more productive than any of the centers those Bulls teams trotted out when they were setting single season win records.

Howard and maybe Bynum are the only truly great centers right now and then it's guys like Noah and Chandler who fill up the box score but hardly dominate in the scoring column.

LeBron fades and defers in big games. He deferred in his free agency decision as well. Great player, just doesn't have "it" that other greats in the league had willing their teams to victory squarely on their own shoulders.

Several times when I tuned into the Heat this season, they would say "those are the first bench points for the Heat"...in the 3rd or 4th quarter. That's a real issue.

Of course few teams get the calls Miami gets and that negates their HORRIBLE bench. I'd say Miami is the favorite because it's a foul to look at LeFlop or Wade the wrong way. They have Shane Floppier too now and we've all seen the video of Bosh flopping 4 seconds after an 'elbow' that never touched him.

Pointing out lebron has a better fg% doesnt make me stAtistically smoked

When you compare stats, you have to throw out that Durant had more points, rebounds and blocks in the 2011-12 season. Only new trendy high tech stats matter.

Yes, trendy stats like assists and steals, such crazy new age stats.

So you clearly read zero posts in this thread up to this point. Nobody in this thread has been arguing LeBron over Durant because of assists and steals, nobody.

They are arguing modern trendy stats like win shares and PER.

If you go by traditional stats it's pretty much a dead draw, it really is, unless you're an idiot.

Points, Rebounds (the two most high profile traditional stats) - Durant

Blocks - Durant

Steals, assists - LeBron in a major way

Their production is similar, all I'm saying is it's close. It's not the runaway slam dunk some people make it. Also you have to figure in a bit who wants to take over at the end of close games, and who wants to let Robin run the fourth quarter or join forces with the 2nd best post-Jordan closer. It's close, if Durant played for the Knicks or Lakers and had this kind of season with the Knicks or Lakers finishing high in the standings I'm 100% certain he'd be MVP. If he didn't get MVP it would be because he already won MVP last year.
