Anyone got any feedback suggestion on AAA travel insurance/membership?

All I'm looking for is to be covered for towing/roadside assistance on my wife's and my vehicles. And to get the AAA discount at hotels when we travel.

We have the AAA Plus membership. It has been well worth it as we were more than 5 miles from home/car repair shop when needing a tow and we used it to have our rental car unlocked when we were in Mobile, AL.

The Plus membership includes:
Pre-paid 24 hours towing up to 100 miles,
Fuel Delivery Service No Fuel Charge
Vehicle Lock-Out Reimbursement Up to $100.

The basic membership includes:
Prepaid 24-Hour Towing Up to 5 Miles
Fuel Delivery Service Fuel Charge Applies
Vehicle Lock-Out Reimbursement Up to $50.

Hope this helps.

It does, been kicking it around for a while since both of our vehicles are out of factory warranty/roadside assistance.

Looking for that it sucks or well worth it opinion.

Plus membership here. Have had it for 9 years. Easily has paid for itself many times over. I'm sure there is something out there better, but I'm very comfortable with AAA and have seen it at work many times.
I was traveling to MN for work and transmission went out. They paid for my towing and I got reimbursed for a night in a hotel.

I agree that AAA is well worth it.

Make sure you don't have towing insurance with your car insurance company or you will be double paying.

AAA has saved my *** multiple times. Well worth the membership costs if you need 1 tow.

Had a membership for probably 15 years. Never had to be towed once (I don't drive American cars ) but it's nice for the occasional discount. I also have life insurance through AAA, got a group rate for AAA members and didn't have to take a physical or anything.

Have had AAA since I turned 16. Been towed a few times, once from Ankeny to Ames, always had good service. Honestly, mine pays for itself in Hotel discounts on a yearly basis. Usually around 10% savings at most hotels.

AAA is a great investment. Even if you don't ever need a tow, it still gets you things like unlocking your car when you lock the keys inside it or giving you a jump when you have a dead battery.

If just towing, check with your insurance company. They offered to add towing for 6 bucks a year just 2-3 years ago to my insurance. Not sure what it is now, I have equipment to haul so I don't carry it.

True, I also trailer my boat every summer weekend to the lake and I want coverage for that too.

I blew out a trailer bearing last season...that sucked fixing on the spot vs towing it somewhere safe.

I meant I can tow myself, I would still call the ins co and ask about your boat if you broke down.

From what I've read AAA only covers the trailer while on land. No coverage for boat engine issues. On the part is covered. Waving a 12 pk and $20 will generally get a good Samaritan to give u a quick tow back to the dock.

Cheaper if your wife agrees to go topless!!!

I have the plus membership, and I have zero complaints. They will come to your house, put on a spare, jump or replace your battery, and even give you a tow. They are very helpful even in remote areas. I was ran off the side of a rural road and popped two tires on a SATURDAY. They were there within an hour. Can't say enough good things about AAA. The discounts you receive from hotels are an added bonus.

It's not just at hotels. There are thousands of retailers that have AAA discounts including restaurants, clothing and shoe stores, theme parks and a whole lot more.

AAA - Savings - Member Discounts, Deals & Limited-time Offers

We go to a Reebok outlet where they constantly have buy one pair get one pair half price. In addition they often run 20% off sales. They will apply the AAA discount on top of these deals so we walk out with shoes for the whole family for the price of maybe 2 pair.

Also been a member for 15 + years. And since you brought it up, drive nothing but domestic cars/trucks. And never been towed. So for what it's worth - domestic or import - I guess we can agree AAA is a good thing. Even for us Americans!
