3-4 & 1-1??

I think we need two more wins vs ranked teams before we even have a sniff at the tournament. MAYBE one more win vs ranked team gets you in, if you win all the other games as well.

How often are teams invited into the NCAAs with one win vs a ranked team?

have you looked at the bubble? the profile you think we need to make the tourney would get us a 4/5 seed.

rankings don't matter. its rpi top 50 and rpi top 100 wins that do.

Are you kidding me? Have you even looked at the other bubble teams? I'm guessing not.

just FYI there are only 16 teams TOTAL that have more than 1 win against RPI top 25 teams right now.

there are 8 at large teams in the latest lunardi bracket that have ZERO RPI top 25 wins.

How often does the 4th or even 5th place Big 12 not get in?

My goal for the team was to go at least 2-1 in each 3 game set, and they have done it so far, so I dont like the idea of losing our last 3 games. We need at least one of our last 3, and our goal should be to win one of the K-State/Mizzou road games and the Baylor game. If we loose to both K-State and Mizzou, that Baylor game will be HUGE!

The one thing that concerns me is if we finish 10-8 and get the 4 seed, and Kansas State finishes 9-9 and gets the 5th seed, and then Kansas State beats us in the first round of the Big 12 tourney. If the Big 12 only ends up taking 4, you would think they would take KSU over ISU, especially if we lost our last 2 to KSU.

i think we are 10-7 going into the Baylor game, we need that one or the 1st rd tourney game to get in...

it doesn't work like that.

it doesn't work like that.

I understand there are other factors that weigh into it, but it would still be concerning for ISU going into Selection Sunday. I still see us going 4-3 in our remaining conference games and at least 1-1 in the tourney, so hopefully its a moot point. I cant see this team not at least winning one of their last 3 games.

It sucks that just becasue Tex, OU and A&M are down this year the Big 12 is getting killed in rankings.

ISU, KSU and OSU are all pretty good this year. Just not getting any love from east coast media.

both of your statements are false.

Too many other factors with other bubble teams to judge whether that's a precarious situation for ISU. The likelihood of that game being the decisive element for our tournament hopes is minimal.

If the resume is weak at that point, you certainly don't benefit from losing that game. But winning wouldn't guarantee anything, either.

Exactly like each of the seven other games between now and the Big 12 tournament.

Hello NIT.

JFC

Did you think we were going to win the rest of our games? We are fine. Win Saturday and all is well.

Some of you need to step back from the ledge. If we lose Saturday then there is something to talk about. Losing on the road to a team that beat Mizzou and gave Baylor all it could handle is not a bad loss.

In fact, it wouldn't surprise me to see Oklahoma State make a late run as a 5th team from teh Big 12 to get into the tourney.

Exactly like my response, but in 5 words instead of 200

OSU is pretty good? kIdding. They are 12-12. That is like saying Iowa is 'pretty good'

Thats what I'm thinking, what do you guys think?

Go 3-4 to close out the regular season with wins over A&M, Tech, & Oklahoma, and losses to Baylor twice, Missouri, and Kansas State..

Then go 1-1 in the Big 12 tournament to finish the season at 21-12.. Is that good enough to get us in?

I think we are a massive bubble team at best, and look for us to be a 12-13 seed. What do you guys think?

Until we reach a point this season when a first-round win clearly affects tournament implications, I'm calling out details like this.

In cases when a the resume is iffy, winning the first conference tournament game has two advantages: (1) avoids a loss that could drag down the profile, even slightly; (2) the team gets a shot at beating a team that could help it. But you still have to win that one.

Well that is pretty much exactly my point. We have to beat someone that is really good, and looking at our schedule... the only top 50 RPI teams are ones ranked in the top 25.
