Over the years, I've seen hundreds of Cyclone fans go out of their way to bash UNI on these boards (including that dope who wrote that embarrassing letter to the editor this fall in the DM Register). Basically, ISU fans seem to treat UNI like Iowa fans treat ISU (i.e. annoying/inferior stepbrother status).

After consistently beating ISU in basketball (5 out of the last 6), going to the NCAA tournament regularly (including a Sweet 16 appearance), and beating ISU in football on multiple occasions in the last decade, when will ISU fans start respecting UNI?

I'm not an ISU fan who feels I must tear down UNI in order to cheer on the Cyclones, so I have difficulty understanding that mindset. I just can't wrap my head around it.

Lastly, please don't bring up "ugly" style of play. Winning is winning and playing the "style" card is sad and pathetic. I would rather win with five “unathleticâ€￾ hardworking kids from Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota than lose with five superior athletes who can neither grasp the concept of team basketball or hard work.

Nobody is running down UNI . . we are criticizing ISU's lack of effort. Your premise is absurd.

This says it all. Style of play shouldn't even come into the equation. We have been out-coached the last 6 years against UNI. EVERY year we have had more talent, and this year it isn't even close, and for some reason we have the same problem every time we play UNI, our lack of effort and intensity. How can that even be???? Do the coaches and players even know their record against UNI???? It is just rediculous that we can't be ready to put UNI down early, and blow them out year in year out. But no, we play with no sense of urgency which allows a fundamentaly sound team to beat you because they are better when they need one bucket, or one stop or hit their FTs. I have been pretty up on Freddie, even with the Drake loss, but losing to UNI, two years in a row the exact same way really has me starting to doubt. Sure look forward to him proving me wrong.

UNI has been the primier team in the state of Iowa in the last decade...I don't understand why there is this huge meltdown after losing to them last night. Is it fun? Hell no. But they are clearly a better program than us right now.

Sad, disgusting, and unacceptable.

We will start showing them respect when 90% of them stop being "dual" fans of UNI and Iowa.

For the record, Iowa State has not lost to UNI in football "multiple" times the last decade. We did lose one time in the last fifteen years. If you are quoting futility at least get it right.

To answer your question, NEVER. **** UNI.

I dont care. I HATE losing to UNI. HATE HATE HATE. ISU should NEVER lose to UNI in football, and we sure as hell should not be losing to UNI at Hilton in basketball. I have only been a hardcore ISU fan since i came to college in 2002, so maybe I expect more than people who have been ISU fans much longer, but ISU football should never lose to an FCS team (let me repeat NEVER), and ISU should not be losing to a mid-major in basketball at home (again, let me repeat, NEVER). I dont care where that team is from, it should not happen, and as long as it keeps up, we will never be nothing more the mediocre.

It's one thing to lose to UNI when they actually have a solid veteran team, like the last couple of years. This year they have a team chock full of freshman. It's just not acceptable.

Thank you for making my point, Hok fan.

Ben Jacobsen is a really really good coach.

He is, and he completely out-couched Hoiberg last night. It was pretty embarrassing actually. However, ISU should always have the better athletes, the better team, and the better coach. Last night we didn't have any.
