See above posts from Al and myself. There is no correlation that can be drawn from those emails.
So what? Fans are emotional, stupid, and uninformed to everything the admins know.
Fans don't make these decisions, with maybe the rare case of an A&M, but that's a place with a deep-seeded tradition of irrational behavior and an inferiority complex that informs every action. That's not Mizzou.
I guess we will see, but reading the Mizzou chat rooms and their administrators its apparent where that side of the fanbase wants to go.

You're making the same point without realizing it. The chat rooms are where the vocal and displeased people go to vent and post. The status quo tends to be much quieter, maybe especially on the Internet, where complaining is job 1.
What matters isnt the general fanbase but the big money donors. If there's a push within those ranks to leave the big 12 it would have a lot more sway.
I think whether MU stays or goes says a lot more about the internal state of the Big 12 than it does about the irrationality of the people making the decision for them.
I think going to the SEC may be a good decision for them, even if they won't ever compete for a championship in football.

This was rumored to be one of the issues at A&M, correct? Some big donor wanted to leave?
Alden and Pinkel might want to leave the Big 12, but that doesn't mean they want to join the SEC.

Mizzou fans want change; they are upset at all that has gone on and that UT won't back down on the LHN. They have an option and they want the University to take it. Reminds me of the last election, all the liberals were so Anti-Bush they wanted change: they got change alright. Are you better off yet?

If Mizoo leaves add 4 to get back to 12 (BYU, WVA, UL & Cinci) and if they stay add BYU, WVA & UL and be done.
Yeah, there was a rumor that a donor was holding out a huge donation to renovate kyle field if they went SEC.
There's even been talk they may spend a season away from Kyle (playing games around texas in Cowboys Stadium, Reliant, possibly Alamo) to speed the process instead of doing it over multiple seasons. Im doubting they end up doing that, but there has been real talk of it.
Doesn't really matter where the fans want to go, or what the fans want to do.
Curators are called "curators" for a reason. They are appointed for a reason and not elected officials. It's their job to not act with emotion, to not make snap decisions. They are charged with looking at the long term and ignoring the short term. If the curators are allowing a few hundred (or even a few thousand) "fans" to sway or dictate the decision making then they have horribly failed in their duties to their job, to the university, to the Governor who appointed them and to the state of Missouri.
They should look at facts only and answer the following questions:
1) Will the university of Missouri be better represented academically by switching to the SEC?
2) Will UofM be significantly better off athletically by switching to the SEC?
3) Will UofM be better positioned to market the university to potential students, faculty and researches by switching to the SEC?
4) Will UofM further it's mission statement by switching to the SEC?
5) Is there dire consequences for not switching to the SEC or will the University of Missouri be fundamentally and unequivocally better off by switching to a different athletic conference.
If the answer to any of these is not a resounding and unquestionable "yes" then as a curator, their job is to say, "No, we will not take a gamble that could result in hurting the University by switching conferences."

I wouldn't claim to speak for ALL Mizzou fans, or even the ones who visit here at CF. From my perspective, we want the SEC because:
1. We are DESPERATELY afraid of being left behind when this conference mess finally plays out. Stability is the key to avoiding that, and no other conference (other than maybe the B1G) has more stability than the SEC.
2. We do NOT believe that the Big 12 will last long term. It's only a matter of time before TX/OU and others move to another conference, or go indy. The "handcuffs" of TV rights would bind most schools, but if you have deep enough pockets, you can negotiate your way out of anything. (or just dissolve the conference) At that point, it may be harder for MU to find a good landing spot.
3. We may get ****ed in the SEC (at first), but the big difference from the MWC is that we're going to get ****ed on a HUGE PILE OF MONEY. Money that can be used to improve our program, increase athletic budgets, fund other programs, etc. I don't see how TV networks that are unwilling to pay big bucks for L-ville, BYU, TCU, etc. games now are all of sudden going to pony up when they're a part of the Big 12.
4. I think we get to pay our players more in the SEC than in the Big 12, right?
I do worry that Mizzou hasn't historically taken football as "seriously" as much of the SEC. But we'll take our lumps, and we'll adjust. We'll get better. We've lived in the shadow of bigger, more historically successful programs before, and we've done fine. Nobody's ever jumped conferences and been a doormat forever.
If you're a true competitor, you want an opportunity to beat the best. If ISU fans didn't feel the same way, then they'd be satisfied to watch the Big 12 dissolve, move to the MWC, and enjoy whipping up on Wyoming or UNLV. But 15,000+ posts on this string prove that Cyclone fans are the same - they want to play in a major conference too, and get a shot a beating top-notch competition (even if wins are rare).
If/when the Big 12 falls apart, I hope ISU continues to get that shot.

The Big 12 won't fall apart if schools don't leave.
Texas and OU aren't welcome in the Pac, and they probably aren't welcome anywhere. Conference realignment can't happen if teams don't leave their league. Every round of realignment continues to show that the Big 12 is the best home for OU and UT. They aren't leaving.
If you guys would commit to the Big 12, it would certainly help things a lot. The Big 12 can make itself a strong league going forward, but that's impossible to do if member schools are bailing left and right. Be part of the solution, not the problem.
Mizzou will never get left behind with the KC and St.L markets. You guys are just justifying the "shiny new toy" syndrome, IMO.
