The player selections for the 2011 Elite 11, the nation’s premier high school quarterback competition, have been finalized.

This year the Elite 11 will expand from a four-day event, to a five-day, 24 quarterback competition to eventually crown the 2011 Elite 11 MVP. Both the selection process and the final competition will be covered in two one-hour features Aug. 12th and 19th as part of ESPN’s “Year of the Quarterbackâ€￾ programming.

Notable Elite 11 alumni include current NFLers Mark Sanchez, Matt Cassel, Matthew Stafford, Josh Freeman, Troy Smith, Vince Young, Matt Leinart, Tim Tebow, Blaine Gabbert and many more.

At the Elite 11, the finalists compete against each other both on the field and in the classroom and receive tutelage from top college counselors and the Elite 11 coaching staff that will be led by Super Bowl champion QB and now ESPN NFL analyst Trent Dilfer.

Past collegiate counselors also include a host of current NFL players: Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints), Carson Palmer (Cincinnati Bengals), Jay Cutler (Chicago Bears), Matt Schaub (Houston Texans) and Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers).

Now in it’s 13th year, the Elite 11 selection committee evaluates more than 1,000 quarterbacks on tape and in-person annually from ESPN RISE’s Nike Football Training Camps and Elite 11 QB Regional Camps to determine the top qualifiers who advance to the final competition in Southern California. The 2011 Elite 11 Competition will be held in Malibu, Calif. from July 18-22 at Pepperdine University.

I'm happy for this kid, this camp is a great chance to learn but also can really help him get focused and start prepping to be a college QB. It may not mean he's a stud but to get noticed being from Cali has to say something. Plus it will be cool to see an ISU commit on the TV show.

Not trying to start something, but there are 5 other kids from Cali. I like that I-State has a presence. There are some top schools represented so it's great to see ISU right there with all the big boys. Now we just need to hold on to him.

This is a pretty big deal. I remember watching this show in the past and wishing ISU had a guy in it...so this is fantastic! With all the questions surrounding QB recently I don't think we will have any problems in the future...needless to say.

I really hope CW does a write up on this in the future.

I'm very excited about the prospects of Rohach and Richardson in the coming years. We just need to at least (not to dismiss the current guys) keep it together until they're ready.

Actually, I would include Jared Barnett in this group of future outstanding young Cyclone QBs. Barnett, Richardson, and Rohach. All possess the talents needed to score points and drive a potent ISU offense.

My "gut" feeling; however, is that it is going to be damn hard to keep Sam Richardson on the sidelines. The guy has a long track record of winning games.

His family is from IA. I've talked to his uncle. He's a lock.

Will this increase his rankings?

Great opportunity for a future cyclone! Hope he does well. However, it will not boost his *rating because a big part of that rating has to do with size, college offers, and "perceived" potential. Look at how Barnett and Richardson were rated (3*) eventhough both put up huge numbers against some legit programs in Texas and Florida. Grant, being a Cyclone committ at 6'1" 190 lbs will have to blow the competition away for his rating to increase. It's sad but it's true.

You got to believe his rating will increase. If I'm reading the article correctly he is considered one of the top 24 QB's in all of America. If that doesn't get you a bump in the rankings I don't know what will?

Then again all ISU recruits somehow get underrated.....

I haven't done any research, but you'd have to think that if he made the top 11, he would get that extra star. I can't imagine many Elite 11 QBs aren't 4 stars at least.

Signed every D1 football commit.
