Staiger Ineligible!

I hope the NCAA doesn't hear about Charles Boozer playing pickup ball with his brother or he'll get declared ineligible:realmad:!

This is complete and utter crap. I'm pretty sure their phone lines could be tied up with nothing but angry Cyclones for months on end if we tried hard enough. I know I will be giving them a call and drafting a few letters. A letter a day from a large group of people could be effective as well. I'm trying to think of anything else that could be done, but I would need to do more research.

This is complete crap. The NCAA turns its head on situations of National Championship implications aka Financial Gains like USC and the whole Reggie Bush and his mother getting a house FOR FREE. This kid has a probably had some per diem meals paid for him and sits a YEAR!!!

HORSE CRAP! How was him playing for a Club team any different the Wes Johnson going to play in tournament in Australia or the whole UNI team playing in CHINA. Needless to I think the NCAA is a joke, unless your a national title contender in a given year!!!

I hate to be a Debbie Downer about this, but I think Lucca was the key to a breakout year for this team. The NCAA is so draconian that they can go around meting out punishment without it fitting the crime in any way. (And in this case there was no crime on Lucca's part.)

Sucks with a capital S!
If he was the one that was paid it would make sense, but he wasn't. You can't penalize him simply for being a good player.

this is crazy - i just hope that they will reconsider. JP and GMcD need to get on the phone and raise some hell.

Maybe send GC - he looked pretty angry before halftime last week.

By the same logic, since Bomar accepted money for playing at OU, every player on the team with him should have sat out this year and lost a year of eligibility. Basically, you sideline an entire football program for a season except for true freshmen. Redshirts lose a year too... USC should have all their players stripped of eligibility.... it's endless.

What's most offensive about this decision is the lack of culpability on the part of Staiger. Penalties are intended to discourage improper behavior - what did he do that was improper?

Does the NCAA inquire of every AAU coach whether any of their players received "compensation" and then penalize all the players? Must every player on a summer program depose the others and the coach to see if anyone is getting compensation?

There doesn't seem to be an appropriate smilie for the occasion - rightious indignation.

This is freaking UNBELIEVABLE. Just shows that the NCAA is willing to protect the big name schools, but doesn't scare about screwing the "lesser" schools. I don't care if this gets censored, this deserves a giant W. T. F.

I urge all of you that are calling/e-mailing the NCAA, to make your point in a clear, coherent manner. Going nuts on them won't help our situation any, even though it certainly seems warranted.

Give 'em hell, just be respectful and make sense doing it. Hopefully I'll hear back from Pollard soon and get his thoughts on this situation.

I hate the idea of file frivolous lawsuits, but given the circumstances that Lucca tried to get exposure and experience by joining an AAU type team in Germany, purposely sought out a team that gave him the best chance to serve that end and remain eligible, and the detrimental (financial) effects this ruling has on him and the ISU program because we're a "has not" in the face of a blatant double standard given to the "has" crowd(USC), we should fight this with legal action. Let this corrupt 'ruling organization' know we aren't going down on our backs!!!

Why are you guys complaining? What else did you expect?

Our name isn't Duke, Kentucky, Ohio State, Indiana, Kansas, UCLA!!!! Who do you think we are? We don't have the juice to dictate terms to the NC double *** holes! They don't live in fear of us. They have to appear to have some sort of spine and we are the beneficiary.

What I really like is school is Lucca has been a recruit for a year now? School has been in session for nearly two months, practice has been going on for two weeks .

"Oh by the way ISU....."

Also, please send the petition link to all of your contacts that will sign it.

I will be faxing a letter to the NCAA today. I just cannot believe this. I know how upset we are, can you imagine being Lucca? Trying your best to follow every letter of the rules so that you can achieve your dream of playing basketball at a school in the US and having this happen!

Cottler talked about his on the radio early this am. He said it was ridiculous.

Exactly, the NCAA needs to hear over and over in a positive fashion that they affect a lot of lives and that we are behind sanctions for players that choose the wrong thing to do, but punishing those that stay the right path is absolutely ludicrous.
