Missouri Joining Big Ten Rumor

I want to get Arkansas to Jack Trice to get even with those cheaters. My first road game was in Fat-ville when they scored the winning touchdown with 12 players on the field and the officials missed it. I still remember a hit Matt Blair put on a running back on a pass out in the flat. KABOOM

East and West Divisions. That would make things really interesting. Won't happen due to not making sense location wise. Also why would Arkansas move to the Big 12 were they might get half their games on TV if they are lucky.

According to the SEC's website, ISU has been on TV just as much as Arkansas.

The Big 12's TV package is NOT that bad. I don't really understand why people keep harping on it. Just because nobody wants to watch a crappy ISU team on TV doesn't mean it's a bad package.

I guess I'm kind of surprised that nothing's developed between Arkansas and LSU. It's a border war, and it's not like they're brimming with natural rivalries in the SEC West either (kind of hard when you've got Ole' Miss, Miss St, Alabama, and Auburn in your division). I don't know - to me it seems the rivalries in the SEC East are more collective (Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vanderbilt kind of the oddball out, although that's probably due to lack of success in virtually any sport) whereas in the West it's more paired.

Yup, you'd think LSU (or even Tennessee) would be a big rivalry game for the Hogs but really it's treated like every other game. Media talks about it the week of and that's it. But Texas....sheesh....when they were coming to town it was talked about for WEEKS in advance and for weeks AFTER it was over. They were sad that the series was over and hopeful that they could ink another one in the future.

Another part of the Hogs problems is that they are so up and down. They should be a real force this year both in conference and nationally with McFadden and Jones but they actually suck this year. There's still a lot of turmoil swirling over Nutt as well which doesn't help.

The package would not be bad if there were revenue sharing. I agree about having to get better to get on TV, but the way it's set up right now it just helps the rich get richer and makes it more difficult to compete in the future.

I can agree with that. Not having revenue sharing makes things a bit difficult for teams like us.

I wasn't arguing about the monetary part of the package so much as the exposure part of the package, which seems to be what everyone likes to harp on. Turn decent players into good players, and an average team into a good team, and everything will take care of itself in terms of exposure, revenue etc. ISU has all the pieces in place to make that happen, and I'm confident it will occur in the next year or three.

Maybe I'm a bit old school, but I think you should earn your way, not just have everything handed to you since you happen to be in a conference (i.e. the way it works in the Big 10).

Hmmm...isn't revenue sharing a form of socialistic welfare?

Usually, welfare programs (robbing the have's to give to the deadbeats, as they are often characterized here) draw quite a bit of ire on this board, except for athletic conference revenue sharing...seems odd...

Given the tone of the off-topic forums, it would seem that most would favor the "free-market" Big 12 over the "socialist" Big Ten, but that just doesn't seem to be the case...

For the love of Christ, I'm sick and tired of talk about teams changing conferences due to a stretch of good or bad football. People starting this **** are ********, pure and simple.

Lighten' up.... geez it's wishful thinking, like the 'Clones winning Saturday.

I tried to get some discussion going a few days ago, about "what if" ISU left the Big 12... I'm sick of the Big 12. The South (except Baylor) is and will always be dominant. As someone else, in this thread mentioned, the Texas teams is all the Big 12 cares about. And I'm sick of the lack of television coverage.

Hey hey hey...

If all the Big 12 cared about were the Texas teams, ISU would have been kicked out several years ago.

Actually, that was Alabama and ISU ... in the World's Coolest Macot competition that we won!!!

Uh, no, that was Iowa State - Arkansas. Alabama was a bowl win that we got screwed out of (the mysterious "ball was kicked too high for it to be good" game)
