Rhoads/FB Projects

Gotta think they are getting a good deal on labor and materials considering the state of the construciton industry.

You'd like to think so, but materials costs are going way up, especially metals, which this project will use a lot of.

Coach Rhoads denied all of this when asked directly about projects. He was on KXNO this morning.... Said that it is in the future goals of the the Athletic Department but denied the south endzone being built anytime soon.
This is not suppose to be public knowledge yet.

I don't want say they are going on the cheap but the end-zone part will be economical meaning they will probably use exposed structural steel to construction it instead of precast concrete. You still get the same dramatic effect from a looks standpoint but it keeps the cost down substantially.

I'm envisioning the south endzone at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.

So I would assume the football only building is going in the parking lot next to the Berg.

Then why offer up that information to a crowd of people that you know won't be able to keep their traps shut? If it's not supposed to be out there for public consumption, then don't put it out there to the public.

And yes, I would consider the Gridiron Club "the public". Once it leaves your mouth, it's public knowledge, doesn't matter who you're speaking to.

I dont consider the Gridiron Club the public, these meetings are not open to the public, these are not town hall meetings or something, you cant just walk into these meetings.

But what about the walkway that goes around to the west side entrance? I know that one isn't used nearly as much, but that would cut that out completely wouldn't it?

Good call, I misunderstood you the first time. I hadn't thought about the sidewalk outside the fence. Do very many people use the west gate? There's virtually no parking on that side, and I would think most people use either the north gate (if they tailgate/park to the north of JT) or the south gate (if they tailgate/park to the south) to enter the stadium. Once you're inside, you can easily get to the west seats from either entrance.

Every game I've been to since about 2003 I've sat on the west side, and I've never once entered JT through the west gate.

If words are spoken by someone, and heard by someone else, it's public knowledge. Period. Doesn't matter who the intended audience is, people will talk. People who aren't supposed to share information do so all the time, which is why you see "a representative, speaking on condition of anonymity, told us...." Translation, "they aren't supposed to be talking, but yet they are."

If they bowled in the south endzone and put a visiting locker room there, my ideal scenario(which will never happen) would be to demolish or completely redo the Olson building so it's 2-3 stories and extend the Jacobson building to the grass on the east and west so it has built in tunnels on each side.

I completely agree that they aren't used very much, but I just doubt they would want to completely elimante access to it from the north.

I always thought widening the Jake to basically enclose the North end would be a good idea. I have no idea how hard that would be to do though.

I like the idea of keeping at least one hillside. That is a good deal for the Little Clone Members.

So you are saying if we had Ohio states stadium that we would be amazing? I think if we had their stadium it would look bad because it wouldn't even be half full for every game, what 5* recruit would want to play at a large empty stadium? NONE. Would you rather have a large empty stadium with bad fan support or a smaller sold out stadium with great fan support.

Players want to play for good teams that win more that 8 games not teams that win 5-6 and just make or miss a bowl game.

You are so utterly out to lunch and have no idea what it takes to recruit players who CAN WIN consistently. There's a reason you are the only one arguing this point..... YOU ARE WRONG.

The bowl won't add many seats. HS recruits want to play in a nice stadium and have a nice locker room and lift in a great weightroom and watch film in a state of the art facility. Without better recruits we will not have many 8 win seasons and without some catching up in the facilities arms-race, we will continue to lose mid level recruits to the likes of UNLV or UConn and NEVER get the occasional upper level recruit we all pine for.

You need to rethink your stance, because it is flat out uninformed and baseless.

My ideal scenario would be to leave the south bleachers alone and replace the current scoreboard with the new proposed videoboard. Then, demolish the Jake and enclose the north endzone with double deck seating. Within this would be weight room, players lounge, locker rooms, etc. Very similar to what Indiana did recently.

I still say at least bowl in the lower part of the south side. I hate the looks of the bleachers.

I like the look of the Jacobson building, but I don't think it's imposing enough. I just wish it were larger/wider. Not so wide it eliminated the hillsides.
