So you are saying if we had Ohio states stadium that we would be amazing? I think if we had their stadium it would look bad because it wouldn't even be half full for every game, what 5* recruit would want to play at a large empty stadium? NONE. Would you rather have a large empty stadium with bad fan support or a smaller sold out stadium with great fan support.

Yes having Ohio States facilities sure would help recruiting. This in turn would help us be "amazing." Man you are dense.

I see no reason to add more seats to JTS, we can't even fill up what we have now and the new endzone would add a lot more seats that we would NOT be able to fill up.

Typically, I ignore the urge to respond to a "clueless" post like this one, but something inside me just can't hold back this time.

I live in the Twin Cities and am a pretty big Twins fan. In 2009, the avarage attendance at a Twins game was about 29,000, in a stadium that could hold 50,000+. In 2010, with the new Stadium, the average attendance was just under 40,000 (capacity). Why is that?

There's a reason they said in Field of Dreams, "If you build it, they will come!"

Dude, get off this. Its not going to affect attendance. I promise you. If there was an upper deck to this new south part, then yes it would. But I really don't think it is. If so, very very little.

PLUS, people will also be more attracted to coming to our stadium to see the new enervations everything.

Its a good thing. Enough said.

*****! It's like arguing with a brick wall!

1) Bowled in stadium doesn't add capacity. If a second deck is added, that adds capacity

2) As pointed out previously, plenty of 4 and 5-star recruits want to play in large, empty stadiums. Check the recruiting reports for Miami, FSU, UCLA etc, and then check game-day attendance. Facilities affect recruiting.

3) No one is saying that these additions will automatically make ISU football amazing. They are saying that the upgrades are necessary just to keep ISU football competitive in the BCS.

There are so many things wrong with this that I scarcely know where to begin.

1. I said help and even put it in italics for you so that it was clear that it is not by a long shot the only thing, but it is on the list.

2. It doesn't really add much to the capacity, mostly replacing the seats lost during the construction of the luxury boxes.

So which would you rather have? A stadium that has metal bleachers at one end and people sitting in the grass in all four corners and isn't sold out or a stadium that is bowled in on one end so it is a horseshoe that helps direct sound back down in the stadium with roughly the same percent of capacity filled?

I wasnt around in this time, but i believe this happened when we moved from Clyde Williams to Jack Trice.

Players want to play for good teams that win more that 8 games not teams that win 5-6 and just make or miss a bowl game.

Yes, we would be amazing if we had the Shoe. We would recruit better players, have more successful seasons, and the fanbase would grow, filling the stadium. Pretty simple concept really.

This is great news! The lower bowl is long past due, and we are going to need some balance to that new scoreboard. Any renderings of anything out there yet? Anything?

I'm not sure I buy into the argument that the stadium bowl directly affects recruiting...player facilities maybe. Kansas just pulled in one of their best recruiting classes ever to a stadium with a track around it (not to mention they have to then live in Kansas for the school year). I think it had more to do with the planned player facilities.

If thats true why don't we build the biggest and best stadium so that we can get the best players?

Bowling in the South End of the Stadium also effectively reduces the Wind Tunnel effect at JTS. That will increase the comfort level on those chilly November game days.

There are plenty of ways to fill the stadium. We sell out the cheap seats in the South End Zone now. Sell some more as we get rid of the Hillside ticket holders and get them to move into the South Endzone. Pollard should refrain from raising ticket prices until we start selling out the stadium.

Kansas scares me next year :twitcy:

Re: SOUTH ENDZONE TO GET BOWLED IN

Like I said before I see no reason to add more seats to JTS, we can't even fill up what we have now and the new endzone would add a lot more seats that we would NOT be able to fill up. The reason why the hills are packed is because it is a bunch of kids and their parents. Parents are not going to buy somewhat expensive season tickets for their kids who will play during the whole game and no't even what to go to every game, that is why we have the clone club because it is accepted for multiple sports, and it is cheap. Eliminating the hills is not going to pack the stadium seating very much because most people who sit on the hills are clone club members and their parents, so will all the clone club members get to sit in the south endzone seats or will they just overpack the other 2 overpacked hill sides? I think it will add a a lot more seats than you think it will. It will be at least 2-3 times the size of the current bleachers. Come game day when half of the new bowling part isn't filled it will make recruits not want to come because it makes it look like we have a bad fan base, also most of upper deck in the current stadium will not be filled. If we were close to selling out I would say yes lets do it as soon as possible, but because we are not at that point we should not do it.

The Minnesota Twins had an average attendance of about 29K in 2009. That was in a stadium that could seat over 50K fans.

Using your logic, the Twins should never have built a new Stadium because they couldn't even fill in the one they already had.

We need to look at quality of seating and the quality of the stadium not just the seating quantity.

FYI: The Twins sold out every game this past year, nearly 40K per game!

Please just ignore him. It is obvious that he is going to pick and choose a phrase here or there and ignore the whole logic of posts.

I, for one, am excited at the prospects.
