Do I Fire Our Nanny?

Nothin' like throwing out a question to the forum that maybe 1 - 5% of the forum can relate to. i.e…being able to afford a nanny. Even though the question was tongue-n'-cheek, still comes off as a bit pretentious IMO.

I don't even know what to say to this. And I thought there was enough complaining about Iowa State Athletics on this board.......

My wife and I just had twins this past January, which would have given us 3 kids in daycare/childcare. A nanny would have been FAR less expensive than daycare costs for 3 kids. Probably on the order of 500-600 bucks a month.

Fortunately, we were able to swing it so my wife could stay home with them. We actually know quite a few people who have nannies. It's just basically an in-home daycare provider, only you don't have to take your kids there, they come to you.

Yeah, because I'm sure his entire purpose for starting this thread was to let everyone on CF know that he can afford a nanny...get real.

It is actually more common than you may think. If you have three kids, it is a lot of times cheaper to bring someone in during the day rather than pay for daycare. Now, whether this person is called a nanny or a in-home babysitter is up to the individual writing the checks.

WOW. Talk about reading too much into a thread topic

Well, since you bring this up, I'll explain myself. I am a grad student and my wife works at a bank-- we are about as far away from pretentious as you can get. It worked out where we could afford to have someone come to our house and babysit our child for the time I am in class for the same price as taking her to an in-home provider. I apologize for using the term "nanny" if you feel "babysitter" would be more appropriate and less "pretentious".

Anyways, just put it out there as a joke but whatever...

Dont worry he is just jealous that he cant afford a Nanny

I'm perfectly willing to admit I could be wrong on this. It was just my initial gut reaction to reading the title of the thread. I stand corrected.

BTW…the leather seats in my private jet are starting to crack and I’m embarrassed to allow anyone else to fly with me. Can anyone help me out? (OK….I acknowledge that was a butchered reference to the scene from "The Jerk"….probably been 10 -to-15 years or so since I've seen it last, so forgive me.)

If she is hot you let it slide. Otherwise you fine her 20% of her paycheck and tell her next time she is going to have to take a job at Creighton.
