Your very early prediction: Utah @ ISU

Guys... listen carefully... Utah has not given up over 28 points since October of 07. They've gone 3 full seasons keeping everyone under 30. This includes a defensive beatdown of Alabama. We're facing a defensive juggernaut much, much more like Iowa or Nebraska than Texas Tech or Kansas State. They've only given up over 20 four times in the last two seasons.

42-24 Utah

We have to play the whole game like we played the first half minus the last two minutes of meltdown to have a chance.

I love the feeling I have coming off the TT win....... but Utah is not TT.

If we can pull this one out I'm calling for a bunch of LONGGGGG clock killing drives on both sides. Then we'll need that redzone D to get the ball back over and over again.

If we win I look for the score to be incredibly low.

My prediction is Samantha Steele Will be looking good again next week!!!:smile:

Utah can actually run the ball tech hasn't all year. That being said if ISU dosen't give them short fields they can make a game of this. Utah 24 ISU 20

Hi all, and greetings from Salt Lake. Been lurking around your board this morning...looks like you have a great group. Impressed with your win yesterday, and very excited about the game Saturday. Wanted to correct a couple things though:

Actually, we gave up 55 to TCU just last season. however, that game was quite an an aberration (we had a true freshman starting his first game, and TCU had that game circled all year) against a legit top-10 team. Not a chance it happens again this year.

I like the fact that we just played a game where we hit our stride, and Utah is coming off of a bye.
Actually, I don't think that bodes well for ISU at all. Utah under Coach Whittingham is 16-1 when we have more than one week to prepare. This includes season openers, bowl games (in which we have a 9-game win streak) and bye weeks. Combine that with the fact this team is hungry to prove themselves against a good team like ISU, and my guess is that we come out firing on all cylinders.

I'm really looking forward to this game as a barometer of where our team is. We haven't played anyone good yet (we thought Pitt was going to make some noise, but alas...), so it'll be interesting to see how our defense fares against a legit offensive squad. I'd be very surprised if we gave up more than 21, but strange things can happen. My prediction is a tight game with Utah pulling away late, 31-21.

Thanks, that's a very informative post. But I want to listen to my heart, I agree with your 31-21 prediction, but ISU gets the 31.

I want to say 34-28 Utah, but something about Paul Rhoads and this team's mentality makes me think we can overcome anything. Iowa State doesn't roll over after adversity like it did in the past and oddly enough, we have gene chizik to thank for making this new attitude in Ames possible. Our team seems to never stop impressing me. We're like an underdog challenger in a heavy weight title bout who keeps getting back up after knocked down and punching the opponent in the mouth. Let's Go Cyclones and prove my head prediction wrong...I'd love to storm the field at JTS at least once this year.

utah is good.

they have a good offense and a good defense.

they are very, very well coached, and intelligent football players.

They are going to be one tough team to beat. But if we play flawless, we have a chance. I really dont see that happening. Utah like 31-13. Ugly. Im very nervous about this game. Might not go well at all for the clones.

Utah by 10-13 points. Don't really like the match up. If the offense shows up again we'll be OK but we'll see.

We just lost whatever surprise element we may have had on Utah coming into JTS by outscoring TT. I still think the Utes may overlook us like TT did in the first half and that our offense has finally figured things out. We will need to light up the scoreboard again.....ISU 38 Utah 34. And I predicted before the season that we would be in a position to win every home game in the fourth quarter and win at least one road game (CU). I still stand by the predicition. We will see how Neb. does against the old man Thursday night, I am not convinced Big Red has solved all its offensive problems yet (see the SDSU score).

As a Utah fan I could not agree with you more! No one in Utah was stressing about the game this weekend but after the game against TT I assure you it is on the Utes radar. As much as I love the Utes I would not bet on them this week. Hopefully both teams come out and play their best performance and the best team will win. Good luck to both teams.

I like the fact that we just played a game where we hit our stride, and Utah is coming off of a bye. I think that gives us some hope of pulling one out. I'll take ISU 31-27

Against any other team coming off a bye may be a good thing. But for Kyle Whittingham (head coach of the Utes) it is a good thing. He has won I think 16 straight games when having more than a week to prepare...

Like I said in a previous post, I am a Ute fan and I hope the Utes win, however, I think this is a serious trap game. I just hope the Utes and Cyclones play to the best of their ability and we have a good game to watch Saturday with the best team winning, who ever that may be.

Good luck to both teams.

Utah wins by 17+. I have seen this Cyclone Movie before. If ISU wins this game and puts together a competitive game against OU then I will be more positive. Right now I just want them to get to 6 wins. Don't care how. Just get er done.
