They don't bring much academically, and Nebraska has a small population. Their national following has fallen tremendously over the last 10 years. Why did the Big 10 choose Nebby?

They have a huge following nationally. A lot of people watch Nebraska when they are on TV. There is a lot of appeal there.

I realize that nebraska has healthy pockets of alumni/fan groups all around the country, but how many tv sets can they actually be credited for besides the state of nebraska? I don't imagine the BTN will be expanding into California, or Washington, or Florida because nebraska has a "national" following. Don't get me wrong, I realize we bring 0 tv's because the BTN is already in our state, but I guess I'm still not following the nebraska thing just from the tv angle.

Was ND ever offered?

ND is still the holy grail (no pun intended) for the offices in Chicago. They are the prize, and the Btn will not stop pursuing them no matter how many teams they add.

I read a post on another site that they thought that the Irish would hold off to see what Kelley does. I think that makes a lot of sense. They get roughly 15 Million from their NBC contract. They would get more from the Btn, and I think that they would have signed a year ago.

But if Kelley gets them back to BCS caliber in a couple years, NBC will back a truck full of money up to their door to keep them.

They have nothing to lose, remember they are still the biggest draw (sorry hawk fans) there is in college football. And the Btn will never stop pursuing them.

I don't think anyone would disagree with that.

Their fans will watch the BTN=money.
Their large fan base will watch Neb games on TV=money
I think the BTN is everywhere, it is just on diffenent tiers in differnet places.

This is the goal of the Pac 10 and Big 10.

that was the goal of Texas. And their end game in destroying and bring the conference to their knees was to bleed more money out of the deal, and gain even more power.

Which looks to be happening.

You don't think that the Big 10 has any incentive to weaken the Big XII?
Their goal is to be the most powerful conference. You do that by improving the teams in your league, and depleting the competition. Taking Nebraska did both.

The Big 10 did not take Nebraska. Nebraska asked to leave. Big difference.

I think the Big 10's incentive is to position themselves for a strong future and to make their members more money. It's business. Whether or not that came with Nebraska, Notre Dame, Rutgers, etc....the goal is the same.

Do you think the Pac-10 improved any with the addition of Colorado? Are they trying to destroy the Big 12. Same question, only switch Pac 10 with SEC, and Colorado with Texas A&M.

I haven't followed much of what you have written in the past, but I will bet any amount that you were one of those hawk fans that went from board to board defending the program when they had all of those arrests, even though they had a ridiculous amount of them.

You were that hawk fan weren't you?

Nope. I let people like you (who weren't around then - imagine that) tell me how upset I should be, and what I should think the appropriate punishment should be.
