Obviously I didn't see this in Alaska, but a lot of my friends are posting messages about a huge meteor sighting over Wisconsin and Iowa. Anyone see it? Would love to hear more about this.

I saw some flashing outside my window at that time, but didn't think anything of it. 20 minutes later, it's all over twitter and facebook. Should have just looked outside, but figured it was just my neighbors or something.

I assume this isn't something that will happen multiple times tonight?

I jumped on Facebook ten minutes ago and saw several statuses about it, one said it hit the ground????

Of course I'm spending my VEISHEA Wednesday night writing an absolutely awesome lab report :jimlad:

I was walking around Ada and saw it. Was just coming to get some advice from astronomy geeks. Glad it was not poop! Glad I was able to see it...

HUGE! It went the entire sky from northwest to south and disappeared in a flash of light in Central Wisconsin.

Channel 13 news was talking about it; said as they went off the air that a possible explanation is solar flares (eruptions) that got here a day earlier than expected.

It was massive I thought. I was out for a run around Towers. I've heard rumblings of it hitting somewhere. Any insight?

Since it wasn't part of a predicted shower or anything, I would doubt there will be anything else. It will be interesting to find out where it landed and what kind of damage it did.

So did the sky turn blue like during the day time? There was a big one a few years ago where that happened.

I've seen solar flares and shooting star, but nothing as big as what people are talking about tonight.

Hale Bop was probably the coolest night sky thing, I've ever seen.

I was out running around towers and just thought I was under a street light because it got real bright all of the sudden. I look up and there is this massive light moving across the sky. Freakin' crazy.

I saw it. It looked like it hit right northeast of Ankeny. It had a blue tail on it. I thought somebody was shooting off fireworks or a plane was going down or something. Looked pretty cool.

That was posted 4 months ago. When I saw it it wasn't nearly that green, but it sure lit up the sky like that.
