Meteor

Man, there are a lot of dumb people on Twitter. I'm just trying to find out where the damn thing landed (assuming it did), and all people are doing are posting month old videos and speculating.

I have seen 6 fireballs in the sky in my lifetime, 2 which are pretty similar to the video, although I was never that close to impact. Wish I had seen it.

We saw it (live in Ankeny). My husband jumped out of his chair, as he can see out of the North window in our family room, and said "What the &&&& is that?" It was absolutely huge, bright, bright, green with an orange tail.

From our perspective it looked like it was headed right towards the Ankeny airport...how odd would it be if it had landed there...LOL!

Sitting outside Friley, and just talked to a girl from Waukon that said it hit the golf course in town. Her sister and friend are working at the Casey's there and said they felt the whole town shake. Doesn't sound like it hit anything of importance or caused any damage. I win!

I'm calling BS on this. It wasn't heading in that direction... at least it looked to be heading south of ames anyway.

Are these guys going to be in town tomorrow??

What direction was it heading... ive seen posts on twitter of people in KC that saw it even...

From my vantage point, it looked to be heading in a line fairly similar to I-35, but east of Ankeny. North to South.

It was seen as far north as central Minnesota, as far south as KC (so far), as far west as KC, and as far east as Detroit. It came out of the northwest. To be seen by that wide of a range, it had to have been travelling high and fast.

Was driving back to to DSM 30 miles west on 80. It was moving fast and must have been big cause it looked close.

I live in Clive and was in my living room, I thought a saw a flash but we had our curtains closed so I assumed it was headlights. Perhaps it was the meteor? Our window faces North.

Has anyone seen a video or found any pictures yet?

PS
In a lot of zombie movies, the outbreak starts out with something falling from space, hopefully this is not that event. :wideeyed:

Definitely saw it in West Des Moines. Big flash of light like lightning, which caused me to look up, and happened to see a fireball disappear a few seconds later. Pretty neat.

I jumped on Facebook ten minutes ago and saw several statuses about it, one said it hit the ground????

Of course I'm spending my VEISHEA Wednesday night writing an absolutely awesome lab report :jimlad:

I was so excited about it I had to immediately go to facebook to make sure my status reflected my true emotion!! :biglaugh:
