Metcalf antics

His record is so bad? He only got arrested one more time, and that was for hollering at an undercover police officer, that he thought two of his friends were fighting. He was walking down the street, saw two of his friends in a yelling match with an undercover, started hollering himself, and was arrested for public intox. Is that bad? Is that what you are talking about? ISU starting Dback is arrested for marijuana possession and is suspended a practice, but you're preaching morals? Long arrested for assaulting police officers and is suspended a meet? Talk about glass houses.

The way I remember it, it wasn't on a street it was in a parking garage outside a police substation. The "friends" (aka more football players getting into trouble) started problems with the police office who just got off work. Can somebody else confirm or refute this?

They, as a group, tried to start a fight with an off duty police officer. Are you going to tell me that the off-duty police officer decided "hey, I just got off work. Why don't I start a fight with these poor hawk football players"? Your never ending efforts to twist the problems in to non-issues is laughable. Marijuana possession is slightly worse than MIP, let's check what happened to hawk and clone football players with MIP issues and base the punishment off that. I don't know what happened with Long, if he assaulted a police officer he should have been punished severely, but I do know it is one example of an ISU athlete. Might be able to come up with one or two more over the past year. How many has UI had? When I went to ISU in the mid-90s the wrestling team had problems, and most ISU fans knew it and made it clear they needed to clean up the program. I think you might want to think about the whole glass house thing.

It is abundently clear that you will continue to twist and spin no matter what is put in front of you so I am ending my discussion with you. As a real UI alum (yes, I went to grad school there), I am embarrased by the football and wrestling (because of the behavior of the coaches, I don't put it in the same category as the football program) programs. I know many others who actually lived in the community and went to school there that feel the same way, or at least realize improvements need to be made. It seems to primarily be the people with no connection to the universtiy other than being a fan that go on and on about how there is no problem. I wonder why that is?

Banks passed a drug test and the witness didnt give the best info. I dont even know of he ever got charged.

I don't believe he got charged. However he was not smart enough to lay low and proceeded to fail one before the bowl game. *******.

Sunset-Iowa had one very bad year (2007) and that was due to a group of about 5-6 athletes. None of them are with the team any longer and they were all dismissed from the team. Some of them were starters and some would have played significant roles eventually had they remained on the team. These players are responsible for theft, drug possession, an alleged rape among other things.

They are gone and they were punished to the utmost extent by the athletic dept.

Outside of that group, there have been problems involving alcohol and a couple of misdemeanor assaults (alleged). The players have done well the last year or two in regard to staying out of trouble.

Why is it that some ISU fans think that Clayborn's trial is being delayed to fit his schedule? It's been delayed twice and I don't think he asked for the delay either time. Doyou think Clayborn would come back for his senior year if there is a chance he could be found guilty? I don't think so.

I've got a headache just reading some of this stuff.

A couple of simple questions for some of the Hawk posters on here. When a Hawk fan posts something unflattering about ISU athletics that you know is not a fact on Hawkeye Nation, do you call them to the carpet? If so, can you provide proof?

To be completely honest, ISU doesn't get anywhere near as much run on HN as Iowa does here. Not to say that there aren't threads about ISU there, but it isn't near as frequent as it is here.

You and Joefrog, kindred spirits.

Thanks for helping that along. People feel the need to respond to all your defenses, otherwise it would be alot less here, I think.

Did you know you average 17 posts here a day?

Why?

And I only have YOUR word on this because I have no desire to go over to a "rival" forum -- in this case Hawkeye Nation -- for ANY reason.

I can assume, then, by your post that Iowa fans don't care about ISU.

Yet here we have you, a Hawkeye fan, posting on CycloneFanatic. And you post quite regularly.

You are a contridiction.

You asked a question, I answered it. If you don't believe me or want to see for yourself, go look. If you don't care, why ask in the first place?

maybe...and its proven ISU fans whine and whine about not beating Iowa....and if you look at it again you'll see Metcalf didnt do that action towards the ISU bench or coaches....he was facing the Iowa bench so the ISU team never even saw it

the bench didnt see it but everyone saw it at home. way to set an example for our youth metcalf and varner

You guys would love Metcalf if he was a cyclone, just as Iowa fans would love to have Varner.

Suuuuuuuuuuuuuure. Just like we would like your basketball/football rapists and drunks. I better throw in announcers too (last thing I need is for Podolak or Zabel to come throw up on my proch and pass out because I forgot to mention them).

As for Varner. I expect more out of him. No need to stoop to that level. Ironic thing is Varner only acts like that against Iowa. The same cannot be said with Metcalf. He is an ******* all the time.

All of the Iowa matches i have seen metcalf just runs to the lockerroom whenever he wins but it seems that he shows very bad sportsmanship when provoked (isu, Caldwell)

ah-the "it is her fault 'cause she wore that outfit" logic.

And you have examples other than last years NCAA final right? All he does (as pointed out by another poster) is sprint off the mat past the coaches and back to the locker room. Rewatch the 2008 NCAA finals and you will see after he won the title he didn't show up his opponent or anyone, he shook hands, got his hand raised, then ran off the platform and shook the hand of Brands and then went to the locker room.
