Is anyone else concerned that this team does not have enough players, period? I mean, there are only 12 players on the roster, which means if more than 2 are nursing injuries, there are not even enough to practice five-on-five. Just seems like it is cutting it kind of close. I understand holding scholarships for what is supposed to be a good year in 2011, but having only 12 players on the roster concerns me. I hope it is just holding spots for 2011 or something, and not some kind of a budgetary consideration.

I'm pretty sure that there is a group of guys that BF has for a scout team. I can't remember the details but I think that is the case. If so, we shouldn't have to worry about 5v5 practice.

Bill will never use his whole allotment of scholarships simply because it creates a log jam for playing time. We'll probably settle on a 9 player rotation as the season commences.

As for practice, the girls do practice against a squad made up of men, so I wouldn't worry about not having enough for a 5 on 5.

I am concerned that as of now we only have 10 players on scholarship next season. Imagine having three players injured when you have only 10 instead of 12.

Yes, there is a group of 11 guys they practice against (well, at least it was 11 last season).

I'm pretty sure the color woman on the broadcast said you could bet that the three we signed early will not be the only three in this class.

and BF has said he is saving those schollies for 2011 class, but he never really confides much about recruiting, so let's hope so, because 10 is way to thin with no margin for error.

do you really think he's saving 6 scholarships for 2011? I can see four or five, but I
I doubt 6. Plus, you never really know if everyone on the team will still be here by 2011.

Coach Fenn is on the recruiting trail as we speak according to Twitter.

In the car for awhile-recruiting never ends!! Good luck to Coach Mac tonight

Makes sense. Next game Saturday (or is it Sunday?), so most likely tomorrow is the off day for this week.

Specifically, he mentioned he'll be in the car seven hours tonight and seven hours tomorrow (presume tomorrow = return trip). What's 7 hours from Ames?

Yes, I've got some time to burn...

According to Streets & Trips, the 7-hour radius from Ames looks something like this:

Green Bay, WI
Duluth, MN
Fargo, ND
North Platte, NE
Wichita, KS
Springfield, MO
St. Louis, MO
Indianapolis, IN
South Bend, IN

Nebraska or Missouri seem likely to me since we've hit those states hard in the past.

Shall we start throwing out the names of prospects in this 7 hour radius?

How about Alexandra Cohen 6'5" Post, 2011 from Bayside WI...

He could be driving to St. Louis and flying out of there. Think outta the box people.

at least mossman got to play toobad flo was injured she would have gotten some good playing time too!
