Make or Break Weekend

Stats don't lie but they can certainly be manipulated to support someone's point...Kansas got that ranking by playing against the powerhouses of N. Colorado, UTEP, Duke, and S. Miss.

Point still stands that Arob and company haven't burned a team with a solid D. Doesn't mean there won't be a victory this Sat. though.

While overall our offense had a horrible game against Iowa, you can't just ignore the fact that A-Rob still had 100 yards on 19 carries in that game (Arnaud also had 56 yards on 9 carries). The lopsided score against the Hawkeyes had much more to do with Arnaud's 4 INTs than with our running game getting shut down.

Now take into account that Arnaud and the passing game got on track on Saturday & I think there is reason for Cyclone fans to be confident. That being said, there's no guarantee that the offense fires on all cylinders in consecutive weeks. It's still a new system & I anticipate some growing pains as the year goes on. Also, as talented and tough as A-Rob is, he's still just one play away from sitting on the sidelines. Groin injuries are notoriously fickle & tricky to deal with.

I thought my point was obvious...you shouldn't use stats like that as their 3rd ranking is deceptive in that they have not played any good teams.
Yes your point was clearly obvious that you are uniformed and will not pass any facts or real statistics to back up your argument. And as others have pointed out, he put up good numbers on your beloved EIU in a poor showing by the rest of our offense.

Under a first year coach, at our current level of development...there's no such thing as a must win game. Each game matters in terms of how it helps to rebuild the program, but there is no single loss that would terminate our slow progression under Coach Rhoads.

you've played one good defense. and scored 3 points. best rb, haha.

Do research, then shut your mouth. ARob just tore up a top 10 rush defense. Not to mention he barely played in one of the games. Go look up the stats. I have a BAYLOR fan on a cyclone website laughing at OUR RB. Once again I'll state, you're Baylor, hahaha. end trash talk.

this time of the season you have to look at schedules. stats get very very skewed by the weak out of conference teams.

you've played nobody with a defense outside of Iowa. Kansas has played absolutely no one period.

3 of our 5 games have been against teams with what are thought to be moderate to strong running games: wake/uconn/ou.

you can throw out all the stats you want. but it's just a misleading number right now.

what did the best running back in the big 12 do against Baylor last year?

what makes you think that will be different this year?

Eastern Illinois?? When did I ever state an allegiance to another team?

True, but at this point just about every team has played crappy defenses.

And Robinson had 100 yards on 19 carries against Iowa. A Rob will likely be our first 1000 yard rusher since Haywood that will do it during the regular season. Plus, if he doesn't get injured, he'll likely be way over 1000 yards. There are a lot of teams with a lot of pretty good backs who don't produce as well as Robinson. I see no reason to disparage that fact.

Good point.

You're right. Obviously Iowa defense sucks. It means nothing that Kansas was third in rush defense. They were third, not 30th. Like it has already been stated but you refuse to acknowledge Arob had 100 against Iowa and 150 plus against Kansas, both had pretty strong run defenses. You guys are LAST in the Big 12. I would put Arob above Wake and UCONN, no OU because Murray is very good. Our Rb missed practically a whole game and is still leading the conference. As for last year he had 36 yards on 9 carries. That wont happen this year buddy. He may have 9 carries, but there will be a whole ton more yards. If there's not, then you guys are getting burnt through the air. I am not saying we will win, I am saying I don't think you guys can stop both.

I started to type out the reasons why I think it will be much different this year, but came up with to many, much of which are probably way over your head (especially knowing you're the idiot who came up with that argument).

You give Baylor fans everywhere (are there Baylor fan anywhere outside of Waco?) a bad rep if you truly are making an argument for this years game based off of last years game.

we WILL beat baylor. i wouldnt even give us a chance with griffin in the game, bracuse i dont think we could shut him down. ithout him, we will win. a-rob is gonna tear them apart and arnaud will feed off his good game last week and keep it going. i think he will have confidence after posting great numbers against a ranked team saturday. our defense is gonna play good too. just watch we WILL win!!!

he is leading rusher in the conference and he only had 4 carries in one of the games. and dont forget that this OL that is blowing holes open for ARob, is also the number one offensive line in nation in sacks allowed. just 2 in 6 games.

Baylor's defense.... 94th in nation, allowing 171.2 rushing yards per game
ISU's offense.... 14th in nation, averaging 209.5 rushing yards per game

GOOD LUCK

Pretty sure these stats are a little more meaningful:

Scoring Offense:
ISU: 26.8 ppg
BU: 30.4 ppg

Scoring Defense:
ISU: 23.5
BU: 22.4

Your gonna have to pass also to win this game.

P.S- Your rushing defense is nearly as bad ours.

1. Coach Rhoads
2. Coach Herman
3. ARob-year older, year wiser
4. Your Baylor #12 in Big 12 Rush D

Did you really just call out Baylor on rushing defense, when Iowa State is 10th in the conference? We've averaged more points on offense with a tougher schedule. We beat the same opponent (kent st) by nearly the same margin with our 3rd string QB and backup RB.

This will be a close game no doubt.

Tougher schedule? Your little fruit punch man avatar is appropriate, you've been drinking too much of the kool-aid/punch.

You've played one ranked team, Oklahoma. ISU has played two, both ranked higher than OU.

If you want to compare:

We played Iowa, ranked higher than OU.

We played Kansas, ranked top twenty. Your next toughest game was Wake Forest. Kansas destroys Wake.

Kansas State for us, Connecticut for you. Who knows, neither one seem very good.

Kent obviously equeal Kent.

Our NDSU equals your Northwestern St.

Add in Army wherever/however you want.

How in the world do you come up with "tougher schedule"?

Keep in mind every team we have played with the exception of kansas is a running team. One of which is Army who is a great running team. Also, how long has your program had the same system? Ours had two games under their belt when they came up against Kent State. If we play them now, we destroy them. I don't how you figure you have had a tougher schedule either.

Sagarin Ratings: Strength of Schedule:

BU: 87th

ISU: 94th

Iowa wasn't ranked when you played them. Given, they are undefeated, but I doubt they beat OU.

You're kidding yourself if you think Kansas beats the Sooners.

Kansas DESTROYS Wake???????? Wake's 4-2, and would hang with Kansas all day....and Wake would beat Iowa State.

Kansas State = UCONN??? If you count Louisiana-La as a Div-I team....then I guess KState has 2 D-I wins. UCONN is 3-2 with losses of 3pts and 2pts. KState blows, and is close to the worst team in the entire conference. Y'all lost, but it's obvious the Cyclones are still the better team.

Replace Colorado and KState with OU and Texas......and you basically have Baylor's schedule. So, ABSOLUTELY our schedule is tougher.

I should rephrase my first statement. As a whole, Baylor's schedule is tougher. I realize y'all have a good running game, and probable that you could have been better playing Kent later in the season. But so would Baylor. We lost Griffin, and beat Kent State by a similar margin with a 3rd string true freshman making his first start. Our first game of the season in a sense was vs. Kent. We could woulda, coulda, shoulda all day long.

I'm just saying that this game is more evenly matched than some Cyclones think. Our level of competitiveness vs similar teams has been identical.
