The Chicago Invitational has been listed as an event that could be cancelled or relocated due to management/ownership troubles with the Sears Centre. The current owners could turn over the arena to village officials as early as October 1st, but the village wouldn't be ready to operate the arena until January.

"We're trying to get some assurances from Sears - but we can't wait much longer," said Bob Patton, president of Chicago Basketball Tournament Inc., the group that's hosted the Chicago Invitational the last three years in Hoffman Estates.

Moving the tournament, which features Northwestern University and the University of Notre Dame, would cost Patton's company. If the tournament is forced to move, Patton said he hopes to return to Sears Centre in 2010.

I would assume the tournament moves up the road to Evanston and the Northwestern University arena, if there are scheduling difficulties. Doesn't seat nearly as many, though.

Because Iowa State is playing in the tournament mentioned in the article over Thanksgiving weekend.

Ok - thx.

(I can't get the freaking schedule to come up at cyclones.com. And my mind went straight to the Duke game)

That really sucks. I hope that they still have this tourney. I want Iowa State to win it's first game....then set up a big game against Notre Dame. Brackins vs. Harangody. Would be big pub.....with those two playing each other.

Dont we have to win the first 2 games to make it to the games in Chicago? Real question, not saying we're going to lose. I was just curious what would happen if we lost the early games at Hilton?

Technically the start of the Chicago Invitational is the weekend before Thanksgiving...just had to point out someone else being wrong since I put a foot in my mouth :jimlad:

Sorry two years ago. The first two games were at home and no matter what we were going to Vegas for the final two.

You're right. The first two are not actually played in Chicago and are the weekend before Thanksgiving. I just mentioned the games being played in Chicago, as that's what the article was referring to.

Thanksgiving is Thursday. Aren't these games on the Friday and Saturday right after that (assuming the whole thing works out)?

These games are in Chicago the weekend after Thanksgiving...the other 2 games associated with this are played in Hilton the Sunday & Tuesday before Thanksgiving against Miss Valley State & Tenn State.
