why NDSU will beat ISU.

I think he meant that NDSU will go for it on fourth and short because our defense is so bad, and they want to keep our offense off the field.

Ohh...That one totally blew by me.

Now that's nothing earth shattering and I can go with that thought process. A lot of teams are going to think that way until we can prove them wrong.

My bad.

Really Dave, this is a cyclone board, not a writing skills board.
i'm sorry but when the punctuation is that bad it just makes it annoying to read because of all of the run on sentences and lack of commas or periods its just annoying and i dont like it i feel like im reading a first graders paper or something do you know what im saying

NDSU will bring OLD TIME TOUGH GUY football and dominate the trenches, and that's why I think NDSU will win.

I know I know, you guys will trash this thread trying to belittle NDSU, but I know if these guys perform and our QB and RB's explode, NDSU will win.

12 days!!

If all of those guys could actually move for their size, they would have ended up somewhere better than NDSU. I'm expecting the ISU DL to make them look silly at times.

Seriously? We're in a 'smack talk' competition with NDSU? Does this say something about the state of our program or am I looking to far into this?

As I have pleaded to Iowa fans, it has little to do with the opponent. Until games start, I tend to be contrary for the sake of entertainment, especially to non-Cyclones. Maybe I am not alone.

2 words - Fisher Twins - look it up. Size doesn't always = great OL

If NDSU is so good and our defense is so bad, how are they ever going to face a 4th down? I'm surprised they're even working on 3rd down plays. :jimlad:

Because we have this super duper 19,000 seat indoor stadium since 1993. And we have been super powers in the lower level football divisions that are smart enough to have playoffs. You want to know how many playoff games we have won in our all powerful home (we were only eligible for 13 of the 15 years) wait .............never mind ..... better yet you want to know how many playoff games we hosted in those 13 years........

We have lakesBISON as a spokesperson and role model for our classy program.......so there.

THIS IS GETTING OLD TO READ ABOUT!!!!!!!! Good old smack talk is great but you are getting out of hand!

From the limited info on the team's website, the number one concern has to be the size and experience of the Bison secondary. O line is big with experience, coach likes the RB's. The problem is this. The bison's with a strong running game, are not the kind of team that will play well from behind. ISU will try to press it's advantage in size in the passing game and get ahead early; then make the Bisons work with a long field.

I have been thinking exactly the same thing lately. It is pretty sad when NDSU fans can come over here and talk smack and actually think they have a chance to win against us. The only thing that will prevent this in the future is to start winning some football games. We must start this season 3-1 or 4-0. Breaking the road losing streak at Kent State is very very important for our program right now. Also, Big 12 opener in KC against K-State is one of the most important games of the year for us also.

I think that NDSU has a decent OL. They have a couple players that are getting some preseason accolades for their division. But they also have a couple of newbies that have little experience. Their line has decent size but are of the size that we see each and every week in our football division. And in looking at UNI, which is a comparable team, UNI actually has more players getting preseason accolades than NDSU.

My take is that NDSU has a decent line but they will still struggle to put up at most 21 points. They just don't have the weapons or the quarterback.

On defense, I just don't see the NDSU DL having any sort of advantage against the OL of ISU. ISU does not have a powerhouse OL. But I think that they will be much improved. There is actually a lot of experience on the OL despite their youth.

The linebackers for NDSU are a bit on the small side. So I look for ISU to be able to run on NDSU. I don't think the DB's for NDSU have the speed either to hang with the ISU receivers. So if a receiver can get a seam it will be a big play.

I say it will be 45-17 with ISU winning. I think UNI is a much stronger team than NDSU. NDSU is similar to South Dakota State. And I think ISU is better than last year. More playmakers. Not a whole lot of losses of talent.

+1

I think Frere/Alburtis/Johnson/Black/Ruemp/etc. have the bodies to neutralize the inside run. If there is a place NDSU has a chance to succeed, it will be running off tackle right at our ends. The can hope to expose our smaller ends and linebacking group, popping off 4-6 yard runs every now and then. If our D has a mental lapse, I see this area as where we can be exposed.

Their QB is lackluster and they have a greenhorn group of WRs. If we stack the box and stuff the run, (which we are more than capable of), it will force the QB into 3-long situations.

^^^ I see this as the most realistic scenario.
